Let's hope that is the case I agree, but Kent seem to have an idiosyncratic view of man management, by all accounts.

Kent are hedging their bets in case Riley signs for Surrey.

Hi everyone, been a long time since I last posted on here. I'd like to see Tredwell permanently at the club. Hope it ends up that way. Where would Zaidi end up?

The plot thickens in the tug-of-war over Tredwell.
Mark Robinson told Steve Hollis of the Argus last week that he had secured Tredwell for a fourth loan spell and that he would be available for Sussex's final three LVCC games. However, Kent have today pulled the plug on the deal and included him in their 13 man squad to play Essex tomorrow.
Not clear whether this is simply due to the fact that Riley has been bowling poorly over recent weeks and appears to have been 'found out' by county batsmen, or whether it has longer-term implications and is part of a Kent ploy to reintegrate Tredwell and persuade him to withdraw his request to leave.
Word is that he will play tomorrow, possibly instead of Riley - but more likely alongside him as Essex are also likely to play two spinners in Panesar and Greg Smith.
Essex also likely to give a debut to 21 year old seamer Jamie Porter, who Sussex supporters will recall took 8-48 (and 11 in the match) for Essex seconds v Sussex seconds at Southend back in early July.

If this is true, then it's disgraceful on Kent's part. Seems as if they regretted agreeing to release him, and then reneged on the deal. Message to Kent (mis)management: what goes round, comes round . . .

Perfectly within their rights, though. The loaning county can recall their player at any time. Not sure it got that far, though. More likely a verbal agreement last week that didn't get inked today as Sussex had anticipated. Perhaps because Riley's bowling last week on the fourth day v Glamorgan was filfth and probably cost Kent their chance of victory.
Kent v sensitive over the Tredwell issue. The journalist who broke the story that JT had asked to leave - and who merely tweeted what every other single person on the ground at Canterbury was saying - received a furious e-mail telling him not to publish info that had not been sanctioned by the club with all sorts of dire warnings.

Today's result at Chelmsford might just sway his signature for Sussex!

Ringcycle from the Ringcycle man. That's rich coming from a, whatever you are, who happily spends several weeks pretending to be someone else. It's an opinion.

Kent's chief executive Jamie Clifford appeared to pour cold water on the Tredwell to Sussex story, stating he won't be going anywhere as he's under contract. However, he wouldn't be the first under contract player to move counties, for as we know, it's very difficult, and unproductive, to keep a player against his will. We'll have to see how it turns out. Certainly he'd be a very good signing for us, as we need a senior spinner who can give us some control. Not convinced that Zaidi can fill this role, despite producing his best performance for Sussex in the Lancashire game. I really like the idea of a Tredwell, Yardy and Beer triumvirate tiring up those middle orders in one day games next season. That would give us a stranglehold that not many sides would escape from, and would instantly revive our one day fortunes

I believe our biggest weakness is in the seam department. While Hobden and Hatchett have shown potential ( hatchett has 17 wickets at 44) ...Lewis,anyon,liddle are unlikely to be able to replace CJ.
zaidis bowling returns for sussex have been good and better than tredders. we also have beer.So if we can afford one or two signings they should be seamers.

Certainly I couldn't see Lewis and Liddle adding much to our new ball attack next season, though one of them might play against Notts. Anyon though may have a role to play. Any quality seamer who becomes available is likely is likely to have a few counties courting their signature. Luckily, most of the big boys in the top division are well stocked for seamers, but we may have to fight off Middlesex, Durham and maybe Hampshire, if they come up. As I said, I've heard mentioned, Willey, Mills and Harris as possible movers. Balcombe and Ashraf may be cheaper options, though at first sight, not much of an improvement on what we have. Robbo will have one eye on our one day performances as well, so probably Willey, if available, would be the best fit. Durham might be in pole position for him though with the Geoff Cook connection. I gather also, that despite being born in Northampton, he has most of his family in the North East. I don't envy Robbo's task at all, trying to find some bowlers to support the evergreen Steve Magoffin, and with limited flexibility in the playing budget.
