I watched the game and thought Tymal bowled well to Gayle. Having said that, in typical Gayle style, he was trying to hit every ball into next week and Tymal was lucky that he didn’t bowl to Evin Lewes at the other end who was hitting everything out of the middle. I don’t think many people will be surprised that he broke down after only bowling 3 overs. He gets a very good wage from Sussex and has a contract till the end of 2019. Surely our resources could be better used in an overseas batter for the T20? Someone at the club needs to say enough is enough and let’s not keep throwing good money at someone with such little return. We have more than enough T20 bowling options without him. I won’t comment on the Mills situation, only to say that we were told that the club had covered themselves with a performance related deal Regarding a second overseas, it’s unlikely that it will be budget restraints stopping us from signing an overseas batsman More likely to be the coaches decision He doesn’t think we need another batsman

He looked far better yesterday than he is, Lewis would have dispatched him. Completely waste of the clubs money. Hobart are really regretting signing him for two years apparently.

Why isn't Mills on the team sheet for Beckenham today?

Because he’s still out with the injury he picked up 4 weeks ago playing for the World XI. Waste of space.

I’m wondering whether Tymal will play in both matches if we reach the final of the T20 Blast. He doesn’t play in the 50 over competitions, so we can assume 10 overs is too much. What about 8 in one day? Or, will he sit out the semi final in the hope that we reach the final?

I can see him playing in the Semi and the Final if we get there. Surely, 8 overs is manageable? My concern would be his fielding. Will he go for that extra difficult stop or very hard catch? That might be the vulnerability. Pulling out could be the best option for him during the semi.
You make a good and fair point but what a sad indictment of a bowler who has the potential to be one of the world's best. I occasionally wonder what goes through his head. Embarrassment, even humiliation when the next injury strikes and for that I feel for him, yet, he has made that decision to go forth as Lewis Hatchett did. Before T20 and the Franchise merry-go-round, Tymal could never have financially survived, but now look at him.
Justice would be served if Mills gains a hatrick in the Final to help Sussex win the trophy. He would then be hailed a hero for overcoming all the odds and his adversity and inspire other sportsmen and people in general.

I don’t think it matters whether Mills plays or not, he’s not a pivotal member of the squad. He’s the last pick of the bowlers and that’s only because it’s the only format he plays. He doesn’t offer anything with the bat or in the field.
The hattrick was in the final over of the match when the oppo needed 18 from the tail-enders who were swinging for all they were worth. I’ll wager that most bowlers who can bowl straight would have got them out.
Apart from Rashid Khan, who was sensational, my bowler of the tournament is Danny Briggs. He takes wickets in every game and the amount of runs he saves at backward point I’m sure have made the difference in more than one game. He’s a calm influence and was a superb stand-in captain while Wright was injured.

Mills is playing in the Afghanistan Premier League for Kandahar. He’s played 2 games so far, no wickets and he’s been the most expensive bowler in both games.
Laurie Evans, by contrast, is playing for Lahore and after his 2 games is averaging 140 odd.

See they Tymal is returning home from Hobart injured, with playing a single match in the BBL. His agent has got a lot of hard work to do, to convince another team to sign him. Have to ask how long Sussex will keep him, with his injury record.

As Sussex's best T20 bowler is now out and Rashid unlikely to return for the knock out phases, is there time, inclination and dosh available to get someone else in or is that greedy and unnecessary?

As T20 is obviously the priority for the club and for Dizzy, I’d be surprised if we didn’t bring in another Aussie.

An attack of topley, Robinson, Jordan, Briggs, beer and weise is still decent. And Khan has been far less effective this year. But yes, reinforcements would be nice,
