Given England have now got hold of him and are putting an awful lot of money and resources into him I think its a good signing for Sussex. There is an interesting video on the ECB YouTube channel showing the work they've done with him in depth to help combat his fitness problems. I'd imagine it would have been a much better contract as well now for Sussex now he will only play T20 cricket.I think it is likely to be an expensive contract, certainly no less than for any of the championship players, as he is a real star of the T20 format.

I am extremely surprised but delighted at the same time. My primary concern is financial. The money spent on his contract could have been used to bolster the batting.
If Sussex can reach the T20 QFs next season with Mills taking wickets along the way, then an astute signing. If not, I don't see the point, particularly if Tymal may be leaving to join the England squad during the Summer.
Conspiracy Theory Alert: Have the ECB asked Sussex to keep him on and they will help out with the wages?

There should be enough in the budget to bolster the batting, we will presumably have lost the salaries of Taylor, and maybe Joyce. I'm happy that we've signed Tymal up again, as he's integral to our hopes of creating a competitive T20 side. Not only is his rapid left arm bowling a potent weapon in this format, having him available, means that we can concentrate our resources into securing a couple of overseas big hitting batsmen.

I'm not totally convinced by Tymal. When he's good he's very good but he is also very inconsistent and must be one of our most expensive bowlers where extras are concerned. I'm pleased to see that it's only a one year extension as his fitness is also a real concern.

Very few bowlers can consistently deliver in this format. I can remember when we signed, then, the worlds best, in Gul. He was equally as culpable as all the other bowlers. Anyway, I don't see the point in wasting the overseas slots on bowlers for the T20, not least because the average T20 crowd comes to see fours and sixes. That's the type of player who puts bums on seats.

You doubters are insane - in the membrane. Mills, economy 7.6 this season by the way, is box office. He's like a top OS signing - I'll be astonished if he ain't at IPL and the Aussie do-da too. Good average, good economy, total fear-factor, total x-factor, money spinner and finally on the right contract - which will surely be a little cheaper than the initial one given he's a one form man.
As with this season, we already have two of the best T20 bowlers in the land sorted. Unlike in the CC, batsmen are our priority now in this form. If our existing batters had performed (batting coach) and we'd signed a big hitting no.5 instead of the Fizz, or Kula, or whatever other bowler rocked up, we would have got to finals day this season.

Hopefully his salary has been adjusted downwards to reflect the fact he is only playing in one competition out of three.

How many overs is he likely to bowl for Sussex in 2017? I've lost track of next year's T20 programme. 70 overs tops. 20 grand tops? 300 squid an over. He'll earn more when he's playing for the South London Lions in 2018, not to mention IPL, Aussie Big Bash and all that jazz.

Interesting that Mills - and the seven others - are going against strong advice from the PCA, which has warned that while the level of security surrounding the England team and international matches this winter is satisfactory, the same cannot be said about security around the BPL.

Tymal's agent working well for him. Tomorrow he will be amongst a small group of county players - Allenby, Ballance,Gurney, McKay, Vince, Plunkett, Lumb, Kleinveldt, Levi, MacLaren, Brendan Taylor - in the PSL draft.

Mills will play for Auckland Aces in the New Zealand T20 competition - the McDonalds SuperSmash (formerly the GeorgiePie SuperSmash) - from early December for a month. As the Auckland coach says "with the proliferation of T20 leagues around the world you can make a good living out of it." There is also speculation that Craig Cachopa may return to Auckland, where his brother Brad is wicket-keeper. www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11731976

I'm saddened that the prosaic and ubiquitous McDonalds parent name has taken over from the GeorgiePie branding. Yes, I know GeorgePie is owned by McDonalds, so no difference in the SuperSmash's parent sponsor. But I always enjoyed refering to it as the Georgie Pie-and-Mash. As for Tymal, I only discovered the other day via a superb Radio 4 documentary about black militancy in 1960s America that he is named after a prominent member of the Black Panther Party. I look forward to him doing this when the Auckland Aces win the Pie-and-Mash:
