Surrey have moved two Second XI T20 matches to The Oval and will be letting spectators in free. That is consistent with Old Trafford so it really does seem to be a matter of whether the venues are set up to do the necessary. Good move by them but not one we can replicate. Why aren't Sussex doing the same with 2XI playing at Hove?
Or did he bowl two of Ward's and Ward pulled up? No you're probably right.
Hunt played - not saving him for T20s too are we? I'm glad Wright and Bopara are okay, I thought they'd fallen of the edge of the planet. Wherever that is. They better sit the next one out.
Effectively these are preseason friendlies, so back to late March when it is mostly the first team playing in the friendlies.
You wouldn't really expect the first team to rock up to the first match without having a couple of friendlies first to work out tactics and get used to the white ball.
Most counties (but not all) went down the route of playing mostly their first team in what are officially second team matches.
It might be nice to win the second eleven trophy but the first team and their needs come first.
Sussex only had Brown, Claydon, Hunt, Ibrahim, Meaker and Sarro. Where was Haines, Orr, Van Zyl, Carson and Atkins? Of Ward, Hinley, Bartier, Tear and Pocklington only Ward performed.
A team of Haines, Orr, Ibrahim, Van Zyl, Brown wk, c, Carson, Hunt, Meaker, Claydon, Atkins, Sarro would have been more competitive.
