As always the so-called 'rotation system' is controversial with the adage, if you have a winning side stick with it. It requires a very wily coach to produce two distinct winning teams for the Championship and the OD format. There will be leakage from both sides. Perhaps, Robinson is one of only a few county coaches who could achieve this balancing act. It will be fascinating to see how he gets on. Although, there is one definite decision. Magoffin will only be playing in the Championship during 2015.

If you look at the pacebowlers from your lists it could break down like this: 4-days only - Magoffin 4-days only, if fit - Anyon 4 and 1 day but limited by international activity - Jordan (April and May in West Indies definitely, possibly later) Mostly 4-day and possibly an international call-up - Mills 4-days and 1-day, available throughout - Shahzad, Hatchett 4-days and 1-day, if fit - Hobden 1-day only - Piolet, Liddle

I am amazed he took so long to sign if he was offered two years in the first place. I suspect he was probably only offered one and that the delay was because he was wanting two.

Yes, a remarkable tale and perhaps explains why Hatchett has become another Nearly Man in the Sussex squad with those difficulties to surmount. From the reference in the article to current problems this also explains the remark I reported as overheard at the Pakistani tour match that he thought his season might be over already.

It's a crying shame when you bear in mind how hard he's worked, mentally and physically, to overcome his problem.

Lewis has announced his retirement from professional cricket following his recent injury and after taking medical advice.
I wish him well in his future career and thank him for the 100% he gave to Sussex.

Shame but inevitable one it seems. Good luck to him. Sakande to take his spot is the natural progression.

And then there were four Hudson-Prentice Joyce Salt Wells Joyce will probably retire. I would offer Hudson-Prentice and Salt another year and Wells two years. Sorry to see Hatchett but it was inevitable given the injuries during the last two seasons. Hopefully Sakande will take his place.

I would say goodbye to Cachopa and H-P, extend Salt for another year, Wells for another 2 and give Rawlings a junior pro contract.
