So the much vaunted ‘opening batsman’ that rob Andrew suggested we’d be in for before Christmas doesn’t seem to have happened. Added to the fact that Head and Rizwan will at least miss the first 2 games of the season means trying to pick an XI for the first game much less exciting and quite worrying. With Nottingham first up, including a pumped up Broad no doubt, I can see this team being trounced: Haines (C) Orr Clark Ibrahim Rawlins Carter (W) Garton Hudson-Prentice Carson Finn Atkins Is there any reason why Robinson shouldn’t play? Might help a bit.

Good looking attack but that batting line-up is a mirror image of last season's. So unless Flower has an immediate dramatic impact, not up to it, yet. This was the worry wasn't it? The OS look like good additions but take them out of it and we're screwed.
If those two are gonna miss the first two games we better get two in who won't.

The lack of a number 3 is a real problem. You always need cover, as who do we have to open if one of them in injured? Or you play one of them at 3.

Rawlins at 5 looks horrific dont you think Tommy? Fingers crossed there is movement in.

I do, but it's not as horrific as 3,4 & 5 together. It's the spine on the batting line-up and they've barely scored a Championship run between them. It's a shame you're not a bit higher up the greasy pole Gordy. Not that making sure all the fat arsed office wallows are sufficiently topped up with tea and biscuits all day long isn't important.

Keep seeing these rumours about bringing in Tom Alsop on loan from Hampshire. If true, he can bat 3, so might be a useful addition. Be interesting to learn also how long the loan period would be. Ideally all season. As mentioned above, a 3, 4 & 5 as posted due to the loss of Brown and unavailability of both overseas batsmen is pretty demoralising. Alsop, Head and Rizwan more acceptable.

After 100+ First Class knocks he averages 25, Tom Alsop wouldnt just be a horrific signing, it would also be compeltely agaisnt the process theyve asked us to buy into.

Getting smashed every game? So who are our 3, 4 and 5 then? Prior to today I’d have said - no-one at 3, Head, Rizwan. After today - Pujara, ?, Rizwan/Phillippe.

Pujara and Rizwan and Phillipe would fill two of those positions.
