His best bet at the start of the season might be as a spinner with Carson injured, though there's more of a case for Coles or Lenham playing as the front-line spinner. I believe that Beer is now white-ball only? Shame, as would both be an opportunity for him as well as giving us some experience.

He got a good ball on Day 1 of a friendly.

Yep, you're on a hiding to nothing if you've been s**t for three years. I hope he comes good but suspect he's a one-day only player really. I also hope Lenham gets the spinner gig, presuming there is one.
Have we won yet?

Rawlins should have opened in the 2nd innings. He needs to show he can occupy the crease rather than just club a few balls to the boundary. Well done to Clarke and Carter for earning the opportunity to bat again tomorrow morning.

Thats the problem I don’t think Delray can occupy the crease he gets out in the same manner every time he bats I don’t think he will ever learn 😡😡😡

Skylark, it's like you had a crystal ball when writing that post. He played some lovely shots to cruise to 40, and then gave it away just before the lunch break. Overall though a nice performance from the youngsters to be at 200/3 without Haines having a knock. Certainly some good early season signs given the amount of second innings collapses we saw last year

Do you guys think Carter will remain as keeper when Rizwan rocks up?

Do you guys think Carter will remain as keeper when Rizwan rocks up? I would certainly hope he would be given a chance being a local lad and if he does nothing wrong why not play him

Hope so too. We need Rizwan the experienced bat more than the keeper so he should be up the order with Carter keeping, for me.
Nearly did win then. Sounds like the attack came to life, especially Atkins, who from what I saw last season on a shaky laptop looks a real good 'en.

Yes agreed, I’d like to see Rizwan bat at 5, and Carter take the gloves.

Who's at 4 then Ash? I think 4, a yoot at 5 and Carter 6.

Ah well my top 7 is:
Orr, Haines, Alsop, Pujara, Rizwan, Ibrahim, Carter

No spinner then Ash? Or are you dropping Garton, H-P, Finn or Atkins? We've signed the most famous No.3 in the world and you wanna play him at 4? A bit odd to say the least. That's the sort of thing this Sussex management do. Leaves me scratching my head.
As for Alsop, signing a loan at the start of the season is not only desperately pathetic but it also sends a horrendous message to the likes of Clarke, Rawlins, Coles, Jake Lenham and Hindley - presuming we've done what we should and signed the last two up.
Have we learnt nothing from the likes of Haines, Orr and Carter? I hoped we'd stopped temporarily signing flops from elsewhere and were rightly putting faith in the academy. It's all well and good signing a decent player like Finn or Joyce but a small profile loan? No. Wrong again Sussex. Very disappointing.

I’ve only picked the first 7😉
Well I’d like to see Carson in there obviously, but with him having/recovering from surgery, Lenham comes in? I was only focusing on the batting really. I’d have FHP at 8, Garton at 9. Then Finn and Lenham.
Your mate AB had Alsop and Pujara at 3 and 4, I was just copying him as it went unchallenged.

I can't challenge everything I read on here, I'll be here all day.
You're dropping our best young bowler since Hobden? No chance. Carson got found out last season, he doesn't turn the ball. Off spinners are dead in the water anyway, it's all about the leggie. Your top 7 hinders the bowling options Ash, that was my point. H-P and Garton are too good for 8 and 9.
It's pretty obvious what the team should be at full strength.
Haines Orr Pujara Rizwan Carter Ibrahim H-P Garton Lenham Finn Atkins.
Bats deep enough, six bowling options. If anyone disagrees with this side I'm afraid they're just plain wrong. Take note Salisbury.
