Another woeful batting display.
Again failed to bat out the full twenty overs.
Bopara aside, not very many positives. Three others got into double figures, but didn't manage to go on to get a score.
Essex's match to lose.
Not sure what the answer is, other than the return of Orr and the reappearance of Rawlins there doesn't appear any other solution than continuing to shuffle the pack.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am finding this extremely painful viewing.
We need to break certain habits around the power plays.
Stop losing three plus wickets when we bat.
Stop giving away no-balls and wides and going for 12 an over 70 plus runs when we bowl.
If I recall, it was the ninth over before we got the first of our four maximums. They have already matched that in their power play.
Our net run rate will not make good reading.

Ho-hum. Essex win with 5.1 overs remaining. From heroes to zeros in just five years.

I'm not saying it would have made any difference to the result. But Karvelas should have played instead of Crocombe and Ibrahim instead of Coles. Both Crocombe and Coles have been decent but you can't crush them with too many games. Carter should have kept and Burgess could bat replacing FHP. We have no chance of qualifying, it is time to start rotating. My only caveat is we have to be more competitive. Doesn't matter if we win. No early wicket in the power play and tight bowling. Khan again didn't do enough; but Foxy is right he won't get dropped. Must be tough on Lenham. I still think we have lots of potential. Rob Andrew, in one of his shallow interviews, said it is going to take a couple of years. Thu and Fri T20s should be a second priority compared to our upcoming red ball game v Worcs. It would be great to get promotion.

Well I've just got back from the game, and what a waste of time and money it really was.
Worries me that Farbrace sounds a lot more resigned to the result than he has done previously. He said at the start of the season that he doesn't want talk about potential or players developing and wants more talk of winning games. In the last couple of interviews he's pointed out numerous times about how the players are still developing a la Salisbury's style.
I agree with Sponge. History says you need 7-9 wins to qualify for the quarter finals of the blast. There's absolutely no way we win a minimum of 6 out of the remaining 8 games. Wait until August and the One Day Cup to come around to refocus on white ball. From now until then, focus solely on the championship.

Shadab Khan is supposed to be our star all-rounder. So far he’s taken 4 wickets @31 going at 10 runs per over and averaging 6 with the bat. At what point do you say enough is enough?
FHP is not much better. He has 58 runs from 5 innings and no wickets @13 an over.
Garton and Rawlins are a big miss.
