Ward's problem could be that Farbrace has already made it clear he does not want white ball players only. Pujara's approach to this white ball has been mystifying. He should open the batting and build his innings. I am already getting annoyed watching our bowling. Kervalas is bowling rubbish; and the damage has already been done. Why don't we have two opening bowlers who can bowl a tight line and length. There doesn't seem to be any real quality to our bowling. Kirtley has to go.

A marginally better performance with the bat, although we look as we have in all the matches this campaign when we have batted first, well below a winning score. Good to see Alsop and Haines return to a bit of form, Foreman continues to impress with the bat (although we really need him to do it with the ball), but for me the most pleasing is to see the hugely talented Dan Ibrahim back in the runs. He has had a tough campaign in all formats and hopefully these last two innings will give him confidence going into the final Championship matches where he will continue with similar contributions. Can our bowlers for once put together a decent performance, minimise the boundary balls and take early wickets in the powerplay? No!!!!!!! Bowling crap.

Clark has three tons and ten fifties in 91 innings.
Ward has two fifties in 42 innings. He could play another 10 years and not make it. He is village green standard at best.
Everybody has a right to an opinion and it is unlikely we will all agree. However, there is no place for petty insults. Whether Ward is good enough or not, time will tell. However, he is most definitely well above 'village green standard'. Just look at the scorecard from the T20 at Taunton last season if you are in doubt. When judging someone, I always find it best to show them the same level of respect that you would want someone to show you in the same circumstances. 24 off 5 balls. That's my point. He has yet to play a substantial innings in 42 innings for Sussex. Two often he hits a quick 20/30 if you are lucky and gets out in much the same way as a lot of village cricketers across the land. More is expected at this level.

He’s the cleanest-striker of the ball at the club. The only one who consistently takes on the attack in the crucial powerplay. He takes risks, allowing the others to pootle along. Not claiming he’s the new Chris Gayle but he adds something to this weak (in more ways than one) Sussex side. To even compare Ward and Gayle in the same sentence is absolutely absurd. At this level once in you need to make it count and he has failed to do this on 40/42 occasions.

I like Ward, i think he has something unique about him but he does need to find some consistently. Ibrahim returning to form is a huge bonus for us.

I have two problems with Ward which are 1) that he only plays one-day cricket (as Farbrace has alluded to we need playes who play all three formats) and 2) he has not improved during his three years at Sussex.
Harmes comparing Haines to Greg Chappell is equally absurd.

Adrian Harmes is is just pure awful.
In the last game he stated someone had "holed out" when it was a leading edge to Mid Off. Clueless on the game!

All I’ll say is that if Harrison Ward is playing at a village green near you, protect your windows.

Haines bowling changes are mystifying.
Similar to the Gloucestershire match, Ibrahim bowling really well and instead of bowling him out, he brings on Hunt, whose first over went for 10. Hunt then gets a wicket and he replaces him with Crocombe.
Meanwhile at the other end, he comes on and bowls two tidy overs for just 8, he takes himself off for Coles whose two overs go for 15 and now Foreman who has struggled.
Ibrahim now back on and understandably has lost his earlier rhythm.
If we had stuck with the bowlers who were exercising control and could have got Barnard out, then we had half a chance.

Foreman off for Karvelas at the Cromwell Road End. He gets a single over, then is replaced with Crocombe who gets one and then back to Foreman.
No real plan, no real tactics. Haines completely out of his depth as a Captain.

He doesn’t seem to enjoy captaincy, isn’t suited to it and isn’t any good at it. Just stick to batting, Tom. You could play for England.
