I'm surprised Somerset have allowed Dockrell to join one of their division one relegation rivals. I assume it comes with the caveat that he cannot play against them at Taunton.

Dockrell is a very promising spinner, already accomplished with both red and white ball. He is also an Ireland regular in all forms of the game. The question is, over this next month's loan period, how much will he be available to Sussex?
Here are Ireland's fixtures over one month from today:
Thu 18th and Fri 19th June, and Sun 21st June - T20s v Scotland (clashes with championship game v Durham on the Thursday, and T20 v Hampshire on Friday, T20 v Glamorgan on Sunday)
Mon 6 July - ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier Warm-up Matches (Clash with championship game v Somersert at Taunton, as coverpoint has pointed out) Ireland v United Arab Emirates
Tue 7 July - ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier Warm-up Matches (As above) Ireland v Oman
Fri 10 July - ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier (Clashed with T20 v Glamorgan at Hove) 3rd Match, Group A - Ireland v Namibia
Sun 12 July - ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 11th Match, Group A - Ireland v United States of America
Further games in the ICC Qualifier in the week beginning Mon 13 July
That leaves these games without obvious conflict:
Fri 26 June 2015 1 T20 Gloucestershire Bristol
Sun 28 June 2015 4 Championship Warwickshire Edgbaston
Thu 2 July 2015 1 T20 Middlesex Lords
Fri 3 July 2015 1 T20 Kent Hove
It would be good to hear from Sussex if they intend to tell their members and other fans what games their signing will be eligible for.

Immediately after posting I saw Steve Hollis Argus story where he says "Dockrell has lost his place in Somerset’s four-day team this season following the arrival of Abdur Rehman at Taunton and has opted to join Sussex instead of playing in the World Twenty20 qualifiers with Ireland. " www.theargus.co.uk/sport/13330371.Sussex_sign_Ireland_spinner_on_loan_from_Somerset/Still good to hear the story directly from Sussex - with all credit to Steve Hollis for sourcing

Good cricketer, shame it's so short term as we will just be papering over the cracks for a month before being back at square one.

For example, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have Tests and ODIs scheduled throughout July, and South Africa and New Zealand are similarly occupied during August. Nothing definite yet for India but the BCCI will play anyone, anytime Star TV has a significant advertising reach. This is why very few established overseas players are now engaged throughout the English summer.

Maybe it would be possible to convince Bailey to play a bit of red ball cricket while he's here After all, I think it was always on the cards for him to play in both formats of the shortened game, so he'd be here anyway

We really need a spinner though. We have to rely on the batsmen to sort themselves out because they are very experienced and get paid decent money. Bailey would just be bailing them out, no pun intended. I see Harbhajan is playing for India in Bangladesh, maybe he could be free for a stint. Has Vettori retired from all forms of the game? Amit Mishra would be handy..

Another kick in the stomach for Will Beer, especially when Dockrell is 4 years younger.

Underwhelming signing for me! Is he better than Will Beer? Surely beer should have been given ago in the side!?

What a ridiculous signing and well and truly a kick in the face for Beer, who just cannot get a fair crack at Sussex. Astonished to read this one, astonished. Pathetic.

Not sure this signing is as ridiculous as some suggest. In fact it makes perfect sense to me.
We knew we needed a spinner for Arundel, where Tredwell bowled 59 overs in Yorkshire's only innings this time last year. We knew Zaidi isn't up to that sort of marathon and we knews that Robinson does not and will not trust Beer anywhere near a red ball.
Joyce has played plenty of games with Dockrell and must rate him and this loan is a better option than Riley, who has lost form and been dropped by Kent and now needs to go back to the nets for remedial work on his action.
