Sure. But does any of that shout ' the cash flow is so desperate that it is imperative to save a fairly insignificant £20 - 25k by not having a reserve wicketkeeper'? Which is why I think Davis must rate Cachopa as a genuine keeper and more than just a convenient part-time stand-in when needs must... But since neither Cachopa nor Brown can buy a run in T20, what's the grand plan? The Worcestershire/Steve Rhodes T20 theory - our bowlers are incapable of beating the bat except when they bowl a wide, so who needs a keeper?

If there was no keeper, the bowler would 'beat the bat' on a regular basis. That's four more to sundries.

Kept wicket in a second XI game at Canterbury this week.
Seems to be cover for Adam Rouse, while Billings is in the IPL.
Can't see him getting a contract as Kent don't need three keepers on the books full-time.
ps: feel sorry for Jackson but also feel sorry for the boy Billings. Having carried drinks all through the T20 world cup - only to get on the field in the final as a sub and drop the crucial chance that probably cost England the match - he's now carrying drinks for Delhi Daredevils and unlikely to play unless Quinton de Kock gets injured.
He's going to return home in May either totally demoralised and disillusioned with having had no cricket for months - or so annoyed that he's going to vent his frustration by flaying county attacks up and down the country!

He has now played at least four games for Kent seconds, I think. In the last match he appears to have opened the batting. I can't find the scorecard but I believe he got a few runs. Kent have Billings and Rouse as keepers, so I wonder if he's now trialling to see if he can make it principally as a batsman with keeping as a Cachopa-style reserve bonus , given that was how he lost his Sussex contract in the first place...

Back opening the batting for Kent seconds today at Beckenham... Jackson now has a good opening at Kent. He kept today for Kent v Glam at Cardiff as Billings and Rouse are both injured. Rouse is now out with a broken finger for 6-8 weeks and if Billings is fit he will be off on England T20 duty and will miss one four day game in early July ad may be T20s as well, depending on how far in advance Team England want him. So if Ben Brown gets injured and Sussex's plan was to get Jackson back on a short-term deal, it looks like he's already taken for the next couple of months at least...

Delighted for him. He deserves his opportunity and should not have been released by Sussex in the first place.
