With Sussex sitting out today's round of CC matches and the three teams below all playing today, Sussex could well be bottom of the table by Wednesday.
Derby and Northants certain to overtake us(they only need 3 or 4 bonus pts to do so). Glamorgan are a little further adrift and will need either to win v Essex or draw with max bonus pts to send us bottom, so we may be spared that ignominy and find ourselves in eighth place with a third of the season gone.
Stll a long way to go, but it rather shows how misplaced out pre-season optimism in 'robbo's rich legacy' was at the top of this thread...

Hmmm...the top of the thread said in part "But I think Sussex have the best all-round squad and will be reinvigorated under Wright's leadership and liberated to play with more freedom post-Robinson." I wonder who could have been so starry-eyed?

1. Sussex 2. Essex 3. Kent 4. Worcs 5. Leics 6. Glam 7. Glos 8. Derbys 9. Northants Not bad Phil. Im reasonably happy with mine too. I've got the top 3 right but not in the right order and at the moment I've got 4th and 5th. Here's how they stand at present: Essex 219 Kent 195 Sussex 176 Worcestershire 158 Leicestershire 154 Gloucestershire 148 Northants 139 Glamorgan 121 Derbyshire 105

My Original ChoiceSussex - (Injury-free!)
1. Sussex 2. Worc 3. Essex 4. Kent 5. Derby 6. Leic 7. Glos 8. Glam 9. NorthantsLike Joe, I may get four out of four but not necessarily in the right order! Also, Wright has been injured for much of the season along with other Sussex player niggles, so that offers me a certain leeway.

And the scores are in......
Although Borderman suggested one point for each correct position, a better rule, IMHO, would have one point for each position away from the final position - in other words, the lower the score the better. However, here's the results from two scoring systems...

I can see why you proposed the alternative methodology. Nevertheless the original format is what we all worked to and borderman must be the winner, with honourable mentions to yourself and to leedsgull. The really interesting thing about this poll was the absolute certainty of the majority that Sussex would win, so much so that to use your methodology across all of the "predictions" Sussex received by far the lowest number of placings, 20 points, compared with runners up Worcester (36), Essex (37) and Kent trailing distantly at 45. At the bottom end of the table there was an equally massive conviction in the awfulness of Northants, 20 points greater than 8th place Glamorgan. I think it proves that none of us should ever gamble.

Cricketer Magazine might do well to avoid making predictions next season. Or, ask one of us.

Surely the only position that really mattered was first so to award top prize to someone who tipped Essex to finish 4th seems odd. Nothing personal borderman. Next season perhaps a weighting system giving extra points to the two promoted sides should be introduced?

I am sure I can find another system for next season, if necessary.
