There are a number of high profile players out of contract at the end of the season. England leg-spinner Adil Rashid looks set to leave Yorkshire, the club he has been with since a kid, while Worcestershire's highly-rated young batsman Joe Clarke is also out of contract with several Midlands clubs interested.
Northamptonshire's opener Ben Duckett, who played four Tests in 2016, is also being courted, with Yorkshire a strong contender. The White Rose are set to play a few shots, too, with a number of their players headed for the exit, the first of which is set to be confirmed on Thursday when Surrey announced the signing of Liam Plunkett. There are hints that Matt Pillans will be going in the other direction, with the allrounder turning down the chance to go to Northamptonshire at the end of the season. The Steelbacks are in need of bowling options and Pillans' pace could fill a potential void left by Richard Gleeson should he decide to move away from Wantage Road. Lancashire, his boyhood club, are thought to be first choice should any exit come to fruition.
Reece Topley, Hampshire's quick, could be on the move after an injury-hit spell at the club while Zak Chappell's signature is probably the one every county wants, including his current one Leicestershire. They may also have a fight on their hands to keep Ben Raine as teams such as Essex, Lancashire or Warwickshire begin sniffing around the impressive allrounder. The 26-year-old has a clause in his existing contract that allows him to leave if a Division One club make an approach.
