We won't get promotion with draws!

All out and a 5fer for Luke Wells
Sussex require 233 to win off 29 overs at 8 an over.
I would suggest Salt and Wiese to open!

Another draw, another 13 points and mid table with stronger opposition to play.
Hopefully Robinson will be back for the game against Middlesex on Sunday.

As Joe has eluded to we have played arguably the four weakest teams in the division with more difficult games to come. Our performance levels must improve or we can completely forget about promotion this season. Our ability to take 20 wickets is proving a problem.

I take your point about taking wickets, but I think we might have won one or both of the last two games if Ollie Robinson had been fit. Early days still in a close division, it would seem. Our batting bonus points have zoomed from the worst in the division to the second best. We just need to bat and bowl well in the same game.

We gave away 67 runs in extras in this game, that’s one area we need to tighten up in. Unfortunately I remember saying the same thing last season!

With all due respect injuries happen and we need to be able to beat teams like Northants and Glamorgan if we are to have any chance of promotion. I have been really disappointed with the performance of Briggs in the last two games. I expect a spinner to bowl us to victory in the fourth innings. We don't need a defensive spinner, we need a wicket taking spinner. Jordan failed to perform in the second innings. Meanwhile Warner got injured with a side strain.

Absolutely, to all of that. It's infuriating to me that Sakande gets one game, a man who we've developed for god knows how long, then he's out for some loan bloke who Yorkshire want to give some playing time to without the risk of actually playing him. It's like the bad old days of England when you had one game to perform. A disgraceful way to operate. It's a total kick in the teeth to the lad. Sakande is yet another player I'd advise to leave, just to get a fair crack somewhere. I don't know what Briggs offers other than a personality that people like in the dressing room. He needs wickets tomorrow, no excuses. This situation, like the Northants game, is perfectly poised for a spinner to win the game. Or help to at least. Beer must be given a chance if Briggs fails tomorrow. And we must win this game, as we should have the Northants one. Our batsmen are finally setting us up for victories. I still think Salt would be better suited to five but he's so naturally talented maybe it doesn't matter, at this level at least. Personally I think we've played the four poorest teams in the country so far. We need a better return than one win. Another young player you’d advise to leave - unbelievable. I thought you wanted our youngsters to play for Sussex 🤔. And who’s another one - Garton? Oh yes, you think the management have something against him, but it turns out he’s injured, as he often is and him playing a 4-day match is deemed a huge risk. Oh dear. Hello. You thought wrong, I want young players to play everywhere. Preferably for their counties but if that isn't happening, anywhere. The important part is playing. Yeah Garton. Sakande, Whittingham, Beer, Rayner, Poysden, Crane, H-P, Jackson, the list goes on. Play them, then judge them. Not one of them has been judged fairly. I know Garton is injured. He hasn't been injured for three years. As for the game, how very disappointing. Robinson would have helped for sure but I believe we'd have won these last two games had Beer been picked. It is totally his time to come in. Briggs has failed yet again when it was there for him. I don't know what credit therealab1, can I just call you John?, speaks of - I don't remember him winning us any games last year either, or beyond that. Beer has to come in now. He's been getting runs and wickets regularly and was one of our best players in the RLC. It is time. Well past it in fact. If it's flat, Gillespie needs to have a strong word or two with the groundsman. I'm beginning to understand why they call the bloke Dizzy. Seems pretty clueless to me.

What you also have to remember is we had Robinson and Archer last year but still didn’t get promoted.
