Don’t quite get how carrying over this season’s membership to next year doesn’t assist the club financially?🤔 surely leaving my money in the club and not paying next season is better than asking for my money back?🤷♂️ Brighton have refunded season ticket holders and Sussex should have done the same. I think it is a disgrace. What other sporting club would treat their loyal supporters in this way?

If you've read the letter to members earlier this week, you'll realise what a financial disaster this summer has been. If subs are deferred, it will bring in no cash in 2021. If the 2021 season takes place, the club will need new 2021 income to finance the season. Unless members donate their 2020 subs, the cash position will be even worse than at present. Bottom line - do you want your pound of flesh, or do you want to support your club?

Nothing to stop you getting a refund if you want your pound of flesh. You cannot compare the financial strength of B&HA with a 2nd division county side. We'll see what other counties do, no doubt.

No other sporting club would treat its members with such contempt. The club is offering members a free choice - have a refund, or make a donation. How is that treating members with contempt?? BTW, you haven't explained your assertion that "They have enough money for the housing development." I'm wondering if you've actually read the letter sent to members this week? If you have, then you'll realise that your use of the word 'contempt' is way off the mark. I accept you may not share my views on this subject, but I think you should be prepared to argue your case, rather than just make assertions.

Whist the principal doesn't sit comfortably with me I think it is a wonderful gesture by those who choose to donate.

Bottom line - do you want your pound of flesh, or do you want to support your club? Think you’ve misunderstood me. I’m not after my pound of flesh,I’m leaving mine in, I fully understand that if we don’t donate then we’ll be in an even worse position. I also understand that not paying for next year’s membership in 2021 creates a cash flow problem for next year. I’m just surprised that offering a refund (which is surely even worse for the club) is an option but deferral isn’t. I mean who’s to say that someone taking a refund now won’t not renew next season and the club has lost out altogether?

I think the psychology is that, if you’re willing to donate your sub then your loyalty suggests you may also renew for 2021. Or, put another way, if you want to help the club (by not taking a refund), then the club would like to retain the chance of collecting a 2021 sub from you, as well as having retained your 2020 sub. I’m finding it difficult to explain this, despite being clear in my own mind!

I'll explain it for you in one word Flash - help.
Sussex can help themselves by cutting many a pointless signing and 'position' upstairs - like the pathway guy. These one-day only players are a total bane. Especially as most of them are very good ex internationals. Sort that out Sussex.

And on a similar note, if fans are to help, players should too. Starting with Wright & Bopara playing the 4 day stuff without extra money. To help stabilise the club. They got more corn than your average member.

No other sporting club would treat its members with such contempt. That is very strong and in my opinion, inaccurate, to accuse the club of treating their members with contempt. They’re giving us a choice - have a refund, or let the club keep our money as a goodwill gesture to contribute towards keeping the club going in these most unusual and unprecedented times. If you pay by direct debit, it comes out at the end of January, unfortunately, none of us have got any value for it in terms of watching days of cricket, if that’s how you value your membership, however, my money has come out months ago, and that’s where it will stay. What I am trying to say is that it was paid for months ago, I haven’t been able to watch any cricket, but I haven’t really done much at all since March until I started playing cricket. As a result, I’ve saved money in other areas so that, plus a love and passion for the club, means I have no issue with them keeping my money.

Whilst a critic of Sussex Cricket in recent years they have handled membership well. Letter worded well and can do no more then give an option to donate or request a refund
