Congratulations to Ash on the birth of his second child. Yes indeed, but I went looking for his Twitter page to learn more and found this "@asharzaidi1981's Tweets are protected. Only confirmed followers have access to @asharzaidi1981's Tweets and complete profile. Click the "Follow" button to send a follow request." Is that possibly his reaction to the furore about his tweeting dissent in the last Somerset match?

hhs,
I believe the incident at Hove occurred because several wily journos in the 'Sussex Media Centre', seeing his upset on the pitch after being given out, gambled, went to his twitter and struck gold. So, one presumes, no journalists will be allowed as followers!
Secondly, it was the same said journos who tipped off the Sussex hierarchy about Zaidi's comment. They were not aware of it until one wandered into the Press Box for an amiable chat an hour later.
So, a very sensible move by Zaidi.

I'm sure you are right, s&f, when you say "no journalists will be allowed as followers". But I bet Toumasi and Robinson won't be allowed, either!

Bowling very well in the Bangla Desh T20 for Comillas Victorians. 2-29 and 3-16 in his two games so far.
Seems to be outbowling his West Indian international spin partner Sunil Narine and is keeping one of the Victorians' other overseas players, Darren Stevens, out of the side.
Still think he could have done a job for Sussex and would have been worth another year's contract. As he's not classed as O/S, I wonder if anyone else will sign him for next season? He could definitely do a job for Glos/Derby/Northants/Leics/Glam, I think, and I wonder if even Essex might consider a punt on him?

I agree BM I think that he would do well at Essex who have very limited spin options.

Went for just 13 runs in his four overs in the latest match and he's now the most economical bowler in the BPL by several yards, going at a barely believable 4.8 runs per over in the competition so far.
I'm going to miss his ever-smiling, roly-poly presence around the place at Hove next season. After such a long wait to get into county cricket, he gave the impression that he was savouring every minute of it and of all Robinson's leftfield 'punts', he has to be my favourite.
He is actively seeking another county for 2016 and I fervently hope he finds one - both for his sake and for ours as cricket-watchers, because the county game needs players who 'break the mould' like Mr Zee.

He was unfortunate to be released at Sussex....his batting when given the opportunity was actually quite good as was his left arm spin. However once the opportunity to sign Danny Briggs arose I feel sure that Zaidis fitness and age played against him.better to gamble on the younger batters like wells and Cachopa and the spin of Briggs.had Zaidis played last season in front of Burgoyne, Dockerell, Fynn and Hobden I don't think we would have been relegated.

And he follows by smashing 53 not out from 36 balls today, batting at number five where you would have expected Darren Stevens to bat.
But Zaidi is playing so well he's keeping Stevens out of the side....

Zaidi's BPL stats are now verging on the Boy's Own side of unbelievable.
He's averaging 126 with the bat at a strike rate of 138 and he has taken nine wkts in 24 overs at an avge of 13 and an economy rate of five.
Unsurprisingly his feats have taken his team to the top of the league.
A delightful man with an infectious enthusiasm for the game who fully deserves his success.

Yes we really nailed it with Zaidi didn't we. I remember him being awful yet playing and more recently being good then dropped, then released. One T20 in a losing team with a good return, now this. Another job well done.

He sure is unstoppable at the moment. Hit 31 this morning before running himself out in the final over and has just come on to bowl - and has clean bowled Shahid Afridi with his first ball...and now takes a second wicket with his fourth ball.

Ah, but dear Craig is regarded as an England prospect . . . That seems to be the truth of it. And as the nasty, lying racist toe rag pleaded 'not guilty' he should have been banned for an entire season. Maynard not much better, trying to claim that he might have been saying it to an Australian player on his own side. I like good sledging and thought England were a bunch of namby-pamby whingers when they complained during the Ashes whitewash. But that isn't sledging - it's racist abuse. Never mind the ECB's rules - he should be charged under the 2010 Equalities Act. Craig Overton , winner of the inaugural Cricket's Very Own Donald Trump Award.

Yesterday this thread was locked because of a series of posts between two members which in my opinion breached the draft statement in our Rules:
Rudeness, insulting others, personal attacks, threats or inflammatory posts should not be tolerated
Perhaps the Rules need revising, and I will do so, but they also contain a statement that I have found personally effective to think about when I have read something that riles me, and it usually makes me delete my quick response before posting:
If you see a thread that you don’t like, because you don’t think its worthy of the board or it covers a topic or person that you personally object to, then either don’t continue reading the thread or report it to the Moderators if you think it is obscene, libellous or contravenes some other rule adopted by the community.
This thread is now open to discuss all matters concerning Ashar Zaidi including the recent reports of the derogatory and insulting comments by Craig Overton.
