I did answer your question by stating that left wing politics does put private over public services. Buying big cars and boats from private industry if there is no nationalised option is not the same as choosing independent education over the state alternative.
If a Christian lives in a secular society does that mean he/she should abandon their Biblical values promoting abortion as a lifestyle choice and committing adultery?

"left wing politics does put private over public services." - really! I don't believe any political beliefs are absolute. There's too much binary thinking in this type of discussion. Are you saying that the left winger should always buy from the state where there is a choice? Why not buy the best quality you can afford? A Christian is entitled to follow their own beliefs - which may or may not wholly coincide with biblical teachings. They have a choice, just like the left winger who may wish to buy medical insurance.

The acid test of being left wing is supporting state services over private, not being socially liberal in attitudes rather than socially conservative.
If an alleged left winger is going to be materialistic it rather defies the definition of being left wing, eh? And if private education is offering better quality than state, shouldn't the lefty try to counter that situation by supporting the state to change things rather than betraying his principles and propping up the status quo by giving them money to perpetuate the divide?
Edit: typo, I think you realise I meant does "not" put private over public services - in my previous post.

I agree that the state schools should seek to improve and compete with private schools - I'm all for levelling upwards! But until we realise that ambition, the left winger is entitled to choose the education that he thinks is best for his child(ren). I don't call that materialistic. If a parent chooses a child's education on the basis of political dogma rather than what they think is best for the child, then that is poor parenting IMO.

Sounds to me like champagne socialism at its finest.

Sounds to me like champagne socialism at its finest. Left wingers are allowed to drink champagne if they can afford it, surely? Would you ban champagne from your socialist state? What about all the French workers whose livelihood depends on the champagne harvest? As a matter of interest, on which socialist state(s) would you model your Brave New World?

When I played rugby for Eastbourne in the late 80s/early 90s there were 3 lads at the club from Kings Canterbury who are all dead. One of them was Danny Dyke, who was the protagonist of that sensationalist TV programme Murder by the Sea killed as a victim in a gangland drug crime.
Sadly you could almost make a 1st XV team of now deceased players such is their number who passed young or in middle aged including ex Sx cricketer, Robin Hanley, an uncompromising centre who didn't really like rugby that much. He never listed it as "other sports played/followed" in the Cricketer's Who's Who. Another cricketer who played as flanker for the firsts, very much in the land of the living, was Richard Halsall.

Meaker went to some fancy 40 a grand a year plumb sucking Paedo prison in Surrey or Sussex I think. Life's tough though. You really should be careful what you say! Calling a school a prison for p....s! My son and daughter both go there. It’s a great school with excellent track record in academics and also sport etc. it’s just recently produced Ollie Pope and several GB Olympian’s. Why slag something off using very strong disgusting terms like that when you clearly have absolutely no idea what you are going on about.

And furthermore, his motive for bringing Meaker into it is that he doesn’t understand how he can suffer from mental health issues when he had such an upbringing🙄🤦♂️ Ironically, it us he who therefore needs the “education”.

Firstly, I didn't call it a prison for paedos, I called it a paedo prison. It's the guards not the inmates. Secondly, I don't mean one particular boarding school, I mean all boarding schools. And plenty of normal ones too. Around 70% of all convicted sex offenders, to this day, are from the education sector. And a majority percentage of that worked in boarding schools. Check the facts if you know how to.
Thirdly, how does a man who doesn't know how to use apostrophes send his kids to posh school? Are you a sportsperson?
Secondly, I don't need no education. I went to one of the finest maths schools in the traveling community. I would've loved to go to one of these pervert paradises but unfortunately when I was a child, I was the sex offender, and I used to target the teachers, particularly the old ones. So I doubt they'd have let me in.

You've edited me very light-heartedly telling Ash to shut up, Longstop? Astonishing. That was supposed to be the funny bit.
