Won the toss and batting.
My thoughts from the line up is that this doesnt seem to be the fresh team we were sold. Alex Lees making his debut but the rest have all been in and around the Test Team for at least a couple of years.
They need a selection panel back up and running so they can go out and identify the talent in the County Championship.

So Root's finally stepped up to 3. And failed, better go back. I'm bewildered - no, astonished. No actually, I'll stick with bewildered, at why England refuse to look at this tasty Lanky leggie and continue to pick this drip of a spin bowler, Jack Leach. It's astonishing. I mean bewildering.
Can England win their first series in what, five attempts? The last time was against one of the poorest Sri Lanka sides I've ever seen in my dismal life and if they do, this one will be against such a poor side literally zero of their fans bother to turn up to watch them. Time to take Tests away from the Windies, they don't care for it at all.

Dead game on a dead pitch with a load a bang average players. Tracks like this really bad for test cricket, I've know idea why they produce them. Leach couldn't get turn on crazy paving, and England have a lad sat at home who can turn the ball round corners. No idea why they stick with a bloke who can't get turn on a 5th day slow boring featherbed. Gotta get rid and get Parky in.
I'm so bored of it I'm turning over to watch cry baby cheats Man Utd instead.

Another dismal innings on another dismal slow track. Why do they produce this garbage? I get that it's to do with soil so just leave a bit of grass on to make it watchable. At least Lees has got out missing a non spinning straight 50 mph ball. 30 off 130 odd, someone needs to tell him why the Vicar ain't in the team no more.
Gonna have to turn over at this rate and watch Farage on GB news.

It's getting exciting now, Windies are approaching a SR of 2.5 and an explosive high scoring draw awaits the lucky viewer. Which might only be me judging by this thread.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Root is a **** moron as captain. He has no tactical innovation, no plan, no leadership. It bewilders me how such a good experienced pro player can be so dull and thoughtless in the game. He reminds me of that wet fart Gareth Southgate. A real safe pick, great with the media but ultimately a **** boring ****.

Captains? What predecessors and how further? Did any of his predecessors lose 4 straight series? Has any England captain ever lost both home series in a summer?
It's not harsh, it's true. Everyone knows Root is a terrible captain and a great player.
I had put it beautifully but the mod has felt the need to edit my stars with fewer stars and no letters. Does that make it cleaner mod? Very strange. Don't be a word killer mod, they were perfectly edited. You might not like swearing but some do, and I'm one of them. This is your final warning. And probably your first.

What an unshocking shower of s**t. Getting battered by the Windies in the decider. Root could be about to oversee a fifth straight series defeat. I suspect that's unprecedented, but I don't know. This is a very ordinary, or standard theses days, Windies side missing its best bowler. I don't think it's ever been this bad in the history of everything.
On the upside it's sunny in the Windies and England, which is also el presidente.

Oh look there is another England fan. I'd assumed you were all self loathing England haters but it's clearly only most of you.
Everyone says there's no obvious replacement but firstly, it doesn't matter when the current skipper is so mind numbingly poor and secondly, I can think of at least three. Stokes, Buttler or Livingstone. Two are obviously a little leftfield but virtually the whole side needs dumping.
Root has now overseen 5 straight series defeats - that's just not workable. Players like Overton, Leach, Lees, Crawley, Foakes, Fisher Sibley, Hameed, Burns... they've done zero to warrant being in an England squad. What have they picked Lees off the back of? It isn't runs as far as I can see.

At last, Root walks. Great bat, great lad, great with the media, great ECB yes man, great ECB straight man, never gonna knock someone out off his tits at 3am, never gonna smoke spliff and never gonna have posted something derogatory about gays or blacks 20 years ago.
Tactically, a defensive boring *** idiot though. Shame that.
Hopefully some lively soul can come in and pick the right players for a start, beginning with Parkinson, who Root has criminally ignored - which is all to do with Root's negative, defensive mindset.
I'd bring Livingston in and make his skipper.
