Good to have balanced books but not at the expense of the men’s professional team. It seems to me that all other aspects of Sussex cricket are well catered for, Womens, club, youth, disability, blind, LGBT etc. None of these would have come into being if the men’s pro team weren’t there first. Andrew and Grubby seem happy to rub along and watch the 1st XI become the whipping boys of the 18 counties. I hope they both choked on their cornflakes reading that article. They both need to go and the sooner the better. Because the books are now balanced we can reinvest again in the men's team

I thought the article was truly shocking. It's pretty obvious that Macpherson did a very thorough job and talked to a lot of players and ex-players in order to paint the picture that he has. Obviously many of them have talked on a background, unattributed basis, but it clearly isn't a case of "one ex-player and Matt Prior" who are the basis of this piece, and the comments re agents' attitude to the club, and the PFA's feelings about the club being the worst as far as player relationships are disheartening to read for any Sussex supporter. Prior has been implying for at least 18 months that the culture of the club has been all wrong, and he has stated categorically that most of the players who have moved have not done so for money reasons. Macpherson states that Ben Brown took a salary drop to move to Hants. Being happy and respected at a club is clearly very important for players, especially experienced players, and it seems our club's management have been failing that test. I don't think we can afford to drift on in the hope that "things will come good". I was at the Members Forum last November when Ian Salisbury was espousing the view that things would turn around because of the "tight" group of young players we had who had all grown up together, but we saw how that turned out in 2022. If we have a further season with the current management allowed to remain at the helm - especially in the light of everything revealed in the Telegraph article - then I hate to say it, but Jon Filby will also be failing in his duty. Most supporters would naturally want him to be a successful chairman, and his vocal criticism of the Strauss Report has been a fine example of standing up and being counted, but he needs to grasp the nettle here and not let a clearly failing management duo plumb new depths. Otherwise the negative media stories will continue, and the membership will continue to decline even lower than the reported 1600.

Andrew might find further employment elsewhere but probably not at the level he’s now at. As for Greenfield, this will be by far the very best job he’ll ever land. Irrespective of whether anyone is doing a decent job, not many are going to give up a well paid and high profile positions voluntarily. Neither are spring chickens either.
Question - are Andrew and Greenfield on open ended contracts or do they have say four year deals and are half way through them ?
