If Currie doesn’t play then I fear our chances of bowling Gloucs out twice reduce from slim to almost nonexistent

Robinson, Clark, Ward and Currie are all out of contract at the end of the season. Robinson apparently has an offer on the table, rumoured to be agreed I understand in some quarters. I suspect they will keep Clark, probably our most consistent in recent matches. Squad player for me. I feel for Currie. I thought he was a real find towards the back end of last season, took plenty of wickets and would push on this season. Unfortunately hasn't happened, although possibly not given enough opportunities. Ward can give it a whack in the shorter form, but it feels like the preference is now for players who can play both red and white ball.

If not now then when? How low are we prepared to see this club sink?

That squad is a throwback to the mid 90s. Horribly weak. The non-selection of Garton suggests a parting of ways is on the horizon. I wonder if members will vote with their feet next season, or whether they’ll keep coming along for want of anything better to do. Former option for me, Sussex give so many free days it’s not worth being a member unless you can go pretty well every day, which I can’t

Completely agree with this. I'd not want to be Jack Carson if its 12 points that costs us promotion. A small read the other day we had a similar points deduction in 2021 but it was a suspended points deduction. I feel if this hadnt happened we may have avoided the 12 point penalty this time. Clearly shows some of these young guys need to improve their discipline and i'd not be surprised if the culprits are the same. Here's hoping to a win which may make us a slightly more attractive proposition. I am yet to be convinced by Carson and am not his greatest advocate, but if I read the reports around our disciplinary sanction correctly (and please correct me if I am wrong), it was because we received a total of four fixed penalties this season. So, whilst Carson showed an inexcusable level of immaturity if we were to miss out on promotion blame cannot be attributed entirely on him. In fact, you could put forward a case that Pujara and Haines are more culpable. Pujara picked up the first penalty in the opening fixture of the season against Durham and Haines, whose (and perhaps its just me) body language at times just doesn’t look right was responsible for TWO of the fixed penalties collected in the Leicestershire match and the home fixture against Yorkshire. Pujara got his one game ban for being captain at the time all FOUR offences were committed. None of the miscreants have covered themselves in glory. In 2021 it was for 5 fixed penalties, so to me this punishment might be a tad on the harsh side.

Not quite as bad but close! If they announce the signing of Martin Thursfield like they did in 1997 then it may well have sunk to the lowest.

Fynn H-P was presented with his county cap this morning.
Is it me or have standards dropped for the honour of receiving a county cap?
Of all our players he’s probably the most deserving but I remember when it was hard fought for and seldom given, the recipients being club legends before even being considered.

Fynn deserves his cap, other than that things going well as per!e Given how hard Ollie Rob had to work to get his i'd have to disagree. The criteria must have weakened! 117-8 is wonderful!

One 5fer and no 100’s in his career. Not as if he’s won games for us either, just been the best of the rubbish on show. He’s not good enough to clean the boots of Ollie Robinson.
