Another good win but slightly sullied by the poor catching which meant we didn't boost our NRR as much as we could have done with a 60-70 run victory, hopefully that won't come back to bite us later. Was pleasing to get 200 despite a rare fail from Dan Hughes and our running between the wickets was excellent, turned a lot of 1's into 2's which Hampshire barely managed to do at all. The 3 teams below us need to all win 2 out of 4 to catch us. 1 win from 4 will do it. We still have Somerset and Essex to play, they could both rob us of 2nd if we slip up.

In the end a comfortable win, but can't help feeling we made that far more difficult than it should have been.
Three very poor catches put down that on another day could have proved very costly. Uncharacteristic of this team given the high bar they have set to date in the competition.
Yes we bowled them out and there were some very good wicket taking deliveries, but there were a lot of filthy ones mixed in amongst them including three above waist no-balls and eight wides.
Besides Robinson and Mills, you can never be confident of a tight over being bowled. Lamb, Hudson-Prentice, Carson all going at over 10 an over economy in the competition, McAndrew only just under and Coles 8.60.
Fortuitously, we were gifted two run outs this evening that worked in our favour. That doesn't happen very often.
On a more positive note, you have to admire this team and their commitment. Hampshire may not be the force they were last season, but they are no pushovers and we have now done the double over them.
Seven wins out of ten already betters last year's return with a much less experienced squad and four games still to play. Given the fixture permutations, two wins from our remaining matches should see us qualify. In fact it may only take one more win.
Despite the areas of concern, Farbrace, his coaching staff and the whole squad deserve immense credit for how they have performed. Particularly considering that expectations ahead of the start of T20 understandably were not high given our focus on the County Championship.

Both of them have to play Surrey too. First target is beating Kent Friday if we do that I think we'll see by the end of the evening what we need to do in the remaining 3 for a home QF. I think at the beginning of the season a Blast QF and promotion to Div 1 would have been regarded as a succesful season so anything more than that will be an enjoyable bonus.

A miracle more like. And before you say it AB, yes, you were one of the few who believed! I just think i saw the progress and ignored the fashionable headlines. Last year we did well in the CC and finished strongly in the blast. We made sensible or shrewd signings to add quality, steel and depth to us and weve had the bonus of having Ollie most of the season. I think the furore around Orrs departure didnt help particularly with big name ex players making a lot of noise about potential other departures and deep rooted problems which in fact have since been proven false. I dont blame anyone for having reservations of any kind, i suffered a bit of abuse across both boards for my views. Its amazing to see everyone firmly behind the club now, of course winning helps that but im a big believer that have to experience true lows to really appreciate the highs. It could have been a far longer recovery process, 3 and a half years is a relatively short period of time to recover from the very bottom but firm roots were planted and theyre beginning to blossom now. I told you never to listen to Matt Prior :-)
