I know it is all over but I just wanted to say. Looked close enough but probably always going to be SL for the win. It looks like England let SL score too many at the end with Perera 49 of 20, it must have been carnage.
In my opinion, Root is not an international T20 player (and probably neither is Bell). I remember seeing Root play against Sussex and he does not have much power, you can deflect and nudge as much as you want but you need to have a little bit more.
England need a different team selection policy. Do we remember a couple of players who were part of the world cup winning team, T20 specialists. I don't think it would happen these days

It's been said before but unless the England players are involved in the IPL, BBL etc... Where is the opportunity to evolve and develop? You need to be surrounded by the best world T20 players. Morgan can criticise his bowlers but where can eg. Jordan truly learn his skill unless he's playing alongside the Malingas. As Sussex discovered the gulf between county and international T20 can be huge.

There's room for one player like Root, but no more so it's between him and Bell. This is a good opportunity to gel a young unscarred T20 side made up of the best domestic performers before the next world cup. It pains me to say but it probably would help if they had some IPL experience - although a few have and the results of them benefiting aren't exactly obvious. I do like our 5, 6, 7, 8 and with Broad in, 9, but we need a 2, 3, 4 and a 10 and 11. We have to start blooding a young spinner and give him every opportunity - I think Briggs. Gurney could nail the 11, stick with him - the batting side might be more difficult.

I like this one-day side playing today though, barring Tredwell. I'd say Hales in for Cook would make it better but I guess captain Golden Balls is going nowhere - ever.

But that team (e.g. Yardy, Wright etc) was a bit of a one off exception. Think of the sides that got battered with Maddy, Schofield, and even Kirtley! We are playing almost all of the players that can get international twenty20 gigs in decent competitions.

Good ol' CJ! 38 n.o. off 13 balls. Now to take a few wickets!

Excellent MoM performance from Chris Jordan, which will go a long way towards earning him a Test berth. We are not likely to see much of Chris now this season, which means I suppose, we'll save on his wages. Another T20 OS, like everyone else now please.

Yep, it's a treat to watch a Sussex player do well for England. The commentators love him, don't they? As an aside, I am watching closely for Chris Adams' influence on Sri Lanka's batting performance.

I didn't see any of yesterday's ODI. It sounded like a disastrous England batting performance. Did anyone else watch it?

I didn't see any of yesterday's ODI. It sounded like a disastrous England batting performance. Did anyone else watch it? Very poor! They didn't get the feet moving against the seam-bowling and appeared to have no method to play Senanayake. Incidentally, I detected a certain lack of appreciation of Senanayake's talents from some of the commentary team which may be connected to his being a 'bent-arm' bowler, or perhaps because he doesn't give it a huge rip. I find him very impressive and I imagine he's a lot easier to face from the commentary box than the other end.

He's an off spinner that barely turns it and his two other deliveries are straight slow ones that do very little, from what I've seen. Think you'd call him a clever bowler. Just skittled them out for 65 in the third game and they were as poor as we were brilliant. CJ's got five but Anderson was amazing, again. Wonder why we ever dropped him from the one-day team - oh yeah, he needed to be rested, despite stating that he needs and wants to play all forms.
Safe to say we're going 2-1 up. It's swings and roundabouts of the extreme for England.

This has to be a very poor spectator series - OK to watch from home when you have not spent a fortune on tickets and travel. I feel sorry for those at the ground, this is probably the worst one so far, 30 odd overs in a 100 over game (or have I missed MR DL changing it to a 20 over game).

England have just gone 21 overs between scoring boundaries according to Lord Gower. This while chasing 300 to win. We're an odd team right now.
