SUSSEX SLAM TEAM NAMES ________________________________Here are 50 of them, What's your favourite name? Balcombe Bombers and Brighton Buccaneers are pretty cool. I note the Sussex CCC staff side are involved, once captained by former Club media man Adam Matthews. I wonder if a certain Bertie Wooster is an opening bat for the Chiddingly Chinners?

OH DEAR, OH dear, oh dear... Jason Gillespie and his BBL side the Adelaide Strikers lost their knock-out home match against Sydney Thunder this morning by 8 runs and their tournament is over, finished, finito, end of the road, ceased to be, zapped, voided. Rather like Sussex CCC in last season's T20, the Strikers were one of the favourites, the best team in the tournament, but they peaked too soon and were unable to chase down an average 151, even after being 115-3 and cantering to victory. Their last 6 wickets fell for a measly 28 runs. A batting collapse of ginormous and highly disappointing proportions. Phil Salt was out for 5 off 4 balls, but he's done enough in his first BBL to gain the attention of other franchise competitions. Travis Head struck 32 off 23 balls. He is an impressive batsman being one of a minority who is accomplished at all three formats. Head will be an excellent addition to the Sussex squad in a few months time. So, what does Dizzy do between now and April? No doubt the media work will increase and hopefully his eye will return to the coastal shores of Hove. We know that Rashid Khan and Travis Head will be our two overseas players for the T20, so no Alex Carey, unfortunately, who has been superb again for the Strikers. Farewell Australia, bushfires and all, and onward to April 12th. www.adelaidestrikers.com.au/news/match-report/knockout-final-v-thunder/2020-02-01twitter.com/StrikersBBL?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

You do wonder whether Jason Gillespie has missed a trick Re: The Sussex T20 O/S signings. Already, Sussex CCC have their two O/S players for the 2020 T20 season. Rashid Khan and Travis Head and yet there are others from the Adelaide Strikers who tactically could be better for the Club. How about Peter Siddle (opening seamer) and Jonathan Wells (middle order batsman), not discounting Alex Carey as the best keeper/batsman Hove has seen since... Jim Parks? For example, while Will Beer is up to the Khan mantle as proven last season, what of Tymal Mills? What happens if he gets injured early on? Who else do the Club have to replace him of Siddle's ability? As for Jonathan Wells he scored more runs than Travis Head and is deemed as, perhaps, the best middle-order batsman in the BBL. Food for thought. Jonathan Wellswww.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/28602093/middle-order-role-one-toughest-t20-cricket-jonathan-wells

Alex Carey as the best keeper/batsman Hove has seen since... Jim Parks? I wonder if Mr Prior might take exception to that?

Proof that Rashid Khan is back to his best after a brief drop of confidence due to his bashing in last Summer's World Cup.
The Aussie pundits just luv 'im.

It was very sad to see a forlorn-looking Cricketers Pub when I passed by the Club entrance today. And talking of forlorn, have a guess whom I saw entering this said entrance with a young-looking terrier dog on the lead? Any ideas? Yep, you've got it, a light grey tracksuit wearing Jofra Archer. Surprising what a difference 6 months can do to someone's International career. I hope the elbow's recovering, young Jof.

That explains why I thought I overheard someone saying "that video Believe in the Dream is criminal. We need to call the Pleece". (I think a smiley thing is needed here somewhere)

Just on their name alone I'm going to support the Billingshurst Bruisers.

Here's one for us Sussex Seniors. Not a bad county life from the floods of Worcestershire to the dallier joys of Hove and London. And of course not forgetting his brilliant Captaincy and International achievements. Finally, leading to being PM of Pakistan. Not a bad life, I suppose. Interviewed by Richie Benaud alongside plenty of film footage. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQX_9T1C-Ko
