Phil Salt finished with an average of 20.66. He won’t go to the T10 as, by the time he gets there and does the quarantine time, the tournament will be over.

Joe, Good point. Ravi Bopara continues to shine striking 102 runs from initial three innings Here is a round-up of Matchplay Day 3 of the Yabba Dhabba Abu T10 competition (Season 4). ttensports.com/matchday-3-wayne-parnell-scalps-first-hat-trick-of-the-season/Ravi's Delhi Bulls lose their first match, yet Bopara continues to shine with a 38 top score - a game dominated by a Wayne Parnell hat-trick; Luke Wright's side lose again as Chris Gayle fires blanks and the batsmen are unable to score over 100 runs, although Joe Clarke is impressive. Strangely Wright did not bat (injured?); Chris Jordan picked up another wicket for the Qalanders; Northern Warriors smashed an impressive 137 runs off 10 overs; and there is no sign of David Wiese or Phil Salt. Both are not involved, probably due to Covid-19 quarantine restrictions; finally, George Garton remains wicketless with figures of 0-50 off 4 overs. Ravi in Action Scoring his Latest 38 runs from 16 balls www.youtube.com/watch?v=iljklsSNUzAPS: Team Abu Dhabbi (TAD) wins its first game. Luke Wright is not injured, but merely put himself lower down the order. Unfortunately he only scored six runs, but Joe Clarke (29), Paul Stirling (23) and Ben Duckett (20) won the match. 130-5 against 129-4. TAD cantered at 15 runs an over with 9 balls left. It's all a bit silly, really. Why not just call the competition a "Slogathon".

I'm just waiting for someone to tell me about a T5 competition where each team faces 5 overs. I am sure it will happen if it hasn't already.

Am, If you have some further and closer knowledge on it then fair enough, I thought the final game of 2008 against Yorkshire and the post-match ceremony was about him handing over the captaincy rather than him retiring, I’m sure he wasn’t actually retiring at that point. I agree his form had completely gone that season, only one half-century in the CC.The problem with time is that truth does some very strange things where it can become distorted or even forms out of thin air. I discovered this to my chagrin when researching that Sussex CCC Museum booklet about the 1997 Members Rebellion. You would interview four different people who were closely involved and gain four different stories. I did take a closer look at the Adams situation and the timeline appears to go something like this. The Sussex Hierarchy Summer of 2008: In mid-summer, David Green becomes ill. A little later (I presume on doctor's orders) he steps down as Chairman and tells the Club hierarchy in late July. It appears this decision was after Adams had decided he would retire. He says, he had been promised an off-the-field job By Green. www.cricketworld.com/sussex-ccc-chairman-david-green-stands-down/16698.htm: The then Vice-Chairman Richard Barrow and Club treasurer, Jim May, go head-to-head and, unexpectedly, Barrow loses and May is appointed the new Chairman (mid August). It was decreed that May's RBS banking experience would make him a more solid and stable financial helm-steerer than Barrow. Usually, the VC gets the Chairman's job, so I have some sympathy for Barrow. : Adams, a little later, is told he has no staff job at the Club after enquiring. : My google search then discovered one newspaper (Daily Telegraph) that stated Adams then decided he “may” continue on as a player for one more season. Presumably, this was contemplated after realising there was no off-the-field job for him at the Club. : Adams is hurt, let down and upset that the Club has turned him down. Two months later, he is then appointed Surrey CCC Coach in early December 2008. He grabs the chance. I feel his decision "to tap" RHB was partly down to the hurt he felt at being turned down by Sussex CCC. Given all the on-field success he had brought to the Club, his feelings are understandable. Like the film Sliding Doors, the Club went off on a new and what turned out to be a path of steady decline. What has always interested me is, if Adams had been given an off-the-field Club job, he would not have gone to Surrey and his whole post-playing career path might have been quite different. Who knows how he would have faired at Hove? Probably, the tapping of RHB burnt his bridges for any future opportunity to return. I would suggest the truth lies somewhere amidst the above. I don’t doubt that about the RHB tapping up, particularly while those in charge here remained in charge. Anyway, I’ve got a screenshot of the Ceefax announcement of him standing down as captain on 14 September 2008....I’ll post it on here if I can....but the last line says he will stay on as a player (honest!😉).

Well done Channel 4. Mark Nicholas is one of my favourite commentators from the past.
But hold on one darn pickin' second... Has the Grauniad got it wrong?
PS: Tuesday evening (5.45pm) and still awaiting whether Channel 4 has the rights or not? Another example of the Grauniad's fake news?

Not sure what to make of this Club decision Re: No Blast Passes for 2021. Being a supporter who waived my £99 refund for 2020 and instead gave the money to Sussex CCC, we are now told no Blast Passes will be offered for this season and instead, it is first serve and no discounts. Rob Andrew writes, "There is still hope that we’ll be able to welcome back capacity crowds for the 2021 Vitality Blast, but we have had to prepare for the possibility that we won’t." Personally, I would be happy to pay the £99 up-front again and if there is STILL no audience participation this season, then waive the refund once more. Although, I note there are some tidbits for last year's holders. My name on a wall, eh? I would prefer a personal bust, myself. The 25% discount voucher is more attractive though, but is that a one-off? And what is this 'Special Edition' Blast Pass for 2022? Will it be gold-plated? We all know how difficult times are right now for the Club, although like many I was astounded to see that Warwickshire CCC made a small profit last season. God alone knows how. Yet, this reaction from the Club shows that for some the pandemic may go on for a very long time. Perhaps, there may even be a Covid Hove variant? Seriously, I wish Sussex CCC every good luck. God, do I miss venturing to Hove. And if there remains no audience participation again this season, please Rob can you upgrade and improve the live-streaming of matches and most importantly charge supporters for the privilege. PS: The Blast fixtures will be announced this Friday.

I guess the problem with selling passes for 2021 is the chaos that ensues when a game takes place with restrictions. No one knows what those restrictions might be and how do you administer, say, every third seat being in use if passes are issued. It may get more complicated if other members of the household want to sit together....and so on. I assume the plan is to wait and see how the summer unfurls in the hope that there may be more clarity by May/June/July.

philh, Yes, it is a tricky one and the Club have probably taken the sensible approach. Meanwhile, here is an opportunity to watch the entire Sussex Cricket Foundation's Webinar from this week that includes Chris Adams, Rob Andrew, Will Beer, a quiz and a magician. The event is hosted by Roger Dakin and is over 2 hours long. Enjoy if you have the time. vimeo.com/507635493

I joined it on Zoom, it was a great evening. Roger Dakin still very amusing and of course, marvellous to hear Grizz speak so fondly and passionately about Sussex cricket.

Georgey boy talking about his experiences at the Dhabbi Slogathon. As he says, "If we go for 12 an over, we've done a good job." And describes the bowlers in the tournament as "cannon fodder!"

Wasn't that the pricing formula in normal times? They can't sell passes for 2021 for obvious reasons. Who knows what the price of one match tickets will be - if it's a restricted audience, then will they have to stream it for those who don't attend? Lots of questions can't be answered yet.
