I have now formally reported the name "maryhinge" on the following grounds:
"Sniggering and unpleassant user name, chosen with the deliberate intention of offending and bringing the messageboard into disrepute."
Over to the moderators.

I don't have any ''acolytes" as far as I am aware. But I wrote : "Good luck to the Inner Circle. Let's not criticise them because in retrospect the division into two message boards is the best thing that could have happened from everyone's point of view." Now please, hairyminge, if you have nothing but spite and venom to spout, stop bringing the Inner Circle into disrepute and take your puerile comments and your misogynist name elsewhere. I am reporting your sniggeringly offensive username to the moderators as provocative and beyond the pale. But I dare say you will then re-register as 'Big Dick' or something equally sophisticated and grown-up. Why do you do it - do your really have nothing better to do? So you are happy to be patronising to other message boards, yet when someone wants to 'challenge your views' you go squealing to the moderators. Have you not yet worked out how to stop people trolling yet? Was this the sort of behaviour that got you into trouble at Kent? I think I will delete my account from the all inclusive board, but 'Big Dick' does seem like a good reincarnation next time the outer circle trolling starts.

Oh do grow up - you haven't "challeged anyone's views", hairyminge; you don't have that intellectual capacity. You have simply been rude, boorish and offensive. You ruined the old board (under the name 'traindriver' was it?) and I think I speak for every single one of us when I say that we will not allow you and your bitterness to ruin this board.
on edit : and indeed, our offensive troll has now spared the moderators the trouble and deleted his account. I'm afraid these people do nothing but bring Sussex CCC into disrepute. Any ideas how we defend ourselves against these would-be wreckers while keeping the spirit of openess and democracy that are this board's greatest virtues?

AFAIC, the inner circle are a decent bunch, who just prefer to keep themselves to themselves. I don't imagine for a moment that they'd want to be associated with the abusive and unpleasant posts made earlier today on this thread. Apart from anything else, it tarnishes their own reputation, quite unfairly.
Perhaps it would help if the IC were to condemn these trolls who purport to support them.

Perhaps it would help if members of this board, both collectively through statements here, and individually as private emails, contacted Jon Filby, who is a Twitter follower of the SxInnerCircle, to express our great disappointment that a member of the Board of Sussex CCC should be seen to be associated, however tenuously, with this kind of abusive and disruptive behaviour, and to ask him to show very clearly that he has no sympathy with sociopathic internet trolls?

Thought I was joining a MB about Sussex CC. Seems total warfare. Never previously read such bile.

bm, Let them play in the school playground and don't waste your time. The more you respond the more energy you give them. Let it be... www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajCYQL8ouqwPS: My favourite is "cunning stunts" - 'Caravan' I believe?

I know what you mean - easy life and all that. But the best way we can all help the moderators and make their job easier is to stand up unflinchingly to idiotic trolls from the Innner Circle such as "hairyminge" and to make it clear that collectively as a board we will not tolerate what cricketfan quite correctly calls "such bile". It is too lazy and an abnegation of our collective role as responsible members of the board simply to ignore it and leave it to the moderators. They need the help of every one of us in making it crystal clear to the would-be wreckers such as traindriver/hairyminge or any other fifth columnist that their trolling will not be tolerated. And I agree with hhsussex that it would be helfpul to both boards if the more prominent members of the Inner Circle were to speak out and make it clear that these buffoons are mounting a freelance guerilla attack, do not speak for the Inner Circle and are deplored and disowned by them. Intolerance of abuse is the new tolerance. Or something like that! And it kind of worked in that "hairyminge" was embarrassed into resigning before the moderators were forced to act.

One of the inner circle forum rules is not to be rude about your board - admittedly this sometimes slips on our board, but is soon pointed out - perhaps you should make that one of your rules, otherwise I will continue to defend against unsubstantiated and uninformed attacks, which Borderman's post clearly was, however he tried to dress it up
I cant speak for others as I have no idea who they are

bm,
Each has their own way of dealing with trolls but if you don't respond they lose interest. They seek out conflict. That is their opus moderandi. A PM to the moderator asking him/her to delete the said post can also work. The said troll then looks for excitement on other Boards and leaves this one alone.
To repeat, each has their own way.

What's going on here is simply not cricket.

I think proper cricket has now resumed thanks to moderators Umpire 1 and 2. So, it is the rise and rise of franchise cricket as women now seek a piece of the financial action and a similar "WIPL" (sounds like an ice-cream or a 'Fast Show' innuendo!) Great stuff! On their days off the top women cricketers can now afford to spend their time buying dresses and perfume from Gucci, Chanel and Prada. Down boy down! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/27586582

The Notts Championship match starting this Sunday is the LV1 home match of the season. The one that every Sussex supporter should make every attempt to attend. The one to be seen at. The one to really enjoy.
Sunday June 1st is the Club's anointed day to celebrate 175 years of Sussex CCC cricket. And the marketing and commercial departments are pulling out all the stops to make these four days highly memorable and special.
First off, admission for non-members is just £1.75 per day. Brilliant!
Away from the cricket, where Notts lye just one point ahead of Sussex in the table, there will be plenty happening at the ground including a vintage car display, commemorative programme, a 30 minute stoolball display, a raffle to win some exciting prizes including a newbury bat from 1839 and of course, the cutting of the birthday cake! All of this will be alongside the annual Real Ale Festival at the north side of the ground.
On the Sunday, there is a special celebratory two course lunch in the Boundary Rooms for £20 a head. This sum includes a ground ticket and full use of the area.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday 3rd June, as part of the real ale festival, the Greene King Brewer's will be sampling 7 of their new craft ales. There's also a further two-course lunch and a presentation from the Greene King Head Brewer, all for £25 per head.
One hopes people will be sober enough to enjoy the cricket!
