I am delighted to read that the 'Matthew Hobden Trust' is up and running. Last July I spoke to Matt's two brothers, George and Charlie, who explain in the article below what the Trust's aims are. George & Charlie Hobdenunofficialsussexccc.freeforums.net/post/19582/threadIt is a fantastic idea and I wish the Hobden family every success in raising a lot of money for the good of cricket whilst keeping the memory of Matthew alive. Here is their Twitter page to keep up with the news and how to donate money to the cause. twitter.com/matthobdentrust

Glorious sunshine has sparkled over the Club's annual Press Day where talk is about the team's new pink shirts for the OD RLC tournament. In fact, the sunny weather is similar to last year. The local media have new signings to chat to as well as Sussex stalwarts like Mark Davis and Luke Wright. David Wiese joined proceedings just in time alongside his fellow Saffer Stiaan van Zyl. It is also a day for sponsors to air their names and gain publicity. This PR event beckons a new season and prompts a positive interaction with the Press and TV throughout the Summer. Cafe Pasticci is being transformed into the nifty name of 'The 1st Central County Ground Cafe' and is ready for business come the home Somerset RLC match on Sunday April 30th. A pleasant bonus for both supporters and the club car insurance sponsor. Cafe Pasticci closed on March 1st and there has been speculation since on how the premises would be used. Supporters will be able to buy sandwiches, cake, coffee, tea and other forms of refreshments. As a promotion the first 100 people who enter the 'County Ground Cafe' on that opening day will receive a FREE cup of tea and cake. The cafe will open an hour and a half before the start of each home match day. In the meantime, Sussex CCC are proposing a mobile unit at the ground to sell food and refreshments during home games.

Even journalists? I thought Sussex were rather particular about who they gave tea and cake to

Jon Filby has been named the new Chairman of the Sussex Cricket Foundation. He is stepping into big shoes left by Jim May. I wish him all the best with this new appointment. A role that is going to be very challenging as the Foundation expands. Meanwhile, we await news of who the next Sussex CCC Chairman is.

No. David Bowden has vacated the positions of Sussex CCC President and Sussex Cricket Foundation President. Just as Jim May has vacated the positions of Sussex CCC Chairman and Sussex Cricket Foundation Chairman.
As they say, it's all change at the top!

Well S&F I bow to your greater knowledge, but the press release on the SCF website has Jim May chairman of Sussex Ltd saying Jon takes over from David Bowden, the outgoing chairman of SCF. I am also pretty certain DB was thanked at the AGM for his work as the first Chair of the SCF. I think your facts are wrong, so perhaps you could check. If I am wrong, apologies.

Fred, I bow down to your greater knowledge and apologies to Joe. On further examination you are correct. Jon Filby is taking over from David Bowden. It becomes rather confusing when you have Sussex CCC, Sussex Cricket Ltd and Sussex Cricket Foundation seeking replacements for Chairmen and Presidents when the usual Board Member suspects are vying for these different positions. Jim May was Chairman for Sussex CCC and Sussex Cricket whereas David Bowden was President for Sussex CCC and Chairman of Sussex Cricket Foundation. I am sure there are quiz questions here for Simon Stewart and his Curry and Quiz Night. Thank you for pointing this out. Meanwhile, we will tomorrow (Friday) be told of the top position. Who the new Sussex CCC Chairman is. My money is on Bob Warren but who knows? It could be David Bowden, Jon Filby or Jim May... Hang on, I am getting rather confused... again!

First, Durham were deducted 48 points at the beginning of this season and now Leicestershire lose 16. Certainly, making Sussex's chances of winning some silverware this year easier. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/39521424

Jon has a passion for all cricket, but especially that played within the county and of course he set up the structure for the new federated organisation paying particular attention to the pillars of development for cricket. Good luck to him.

Certainly, making Sussex's chances of winning some silverware this year easier. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/39521424It's even more than just the loss of the points. Because its their 5th offence in 12 months, which doesn't say much for the captaincy of Cosgrove, he is banned for one match, they are fined £5000 and have a further 8 points penalty suspended for 12 months. Oh, and the gormless Shreck has been suspended for two matches. Will all the posters who thought the ECB was over-reacting to Durham come out to say the same things about Leicester?

I am surprised Wasim Khan hasn't stepped in and taken more control. Meanwhile, did you see the excellent Somerset CEO, Guy Lavender, is now moving on to the MCC in a similar role at the beginning of September. He tweets: Many thanks for all the kind messages. Sad to be leaving Somerset but really excited to be joining MCCNo surprise about this appointment. Having interviewed him various times, I was always impressed. Somerset will greatly miss him. www.lords.org/news/2017/april/guy-lavender-appointed-mcc-ceo-and-secretary/

An intriguing tweet from Sussex CCC today.
We're also welcoming all non-members into the (Spen Cama) Pavilion for matches against both @cardiffmccu and @kentcricket.
Cardiff is understandable but the home Championship game against Kent? Is this the beginning of a new open door policy from Sussex?
