Interesting paragraph in today's Cricinfo report:
"Sussex also found no evidence during its own internal investigation. The county indicated that it would be making no comment on the outcome."

ECB chief executive David Collier, who announced the ban on Arif, is at Arundel today.

Why is it I expect XXXXX (Glamorgan player) to do something odd every televised match now and am surprised when he doesn't?

I agree with hhs, this is sensitive ground 12grand. Please don't incite, speculate or tease. Let us not go there when temptation prevails. Until we hear more from the sub-judice Vincent case, imho, not advisable.

Okay - we can make do with the TV commentators using the code word "extraordinary" to describe the types of performance that should be scrutinised and not discuss it here!

It's only Libel if it isn't true. So if 12G knows something and is confident in it's accuracy then knock yourself out and go for it!

If he does have evidence, maybe he should notify the ECB instead of treating it as gossip. If you have evidence of a criminal activity, an online forum is not the first port of call! As hhsussex said upthread: "unless you have proof of misdoings this is very dangerous ground for the board to venture on."

Sadly that's all i need to say. It's like watching Sussex vs Surrey at Whitgift. Fair play to the commentators for calling it on Sky Sports in the usual code words.

An emotive statement by Lou Vincent www.theguardian.com/sport/2014/jul/01/lou-vincent-i-am-a-and-have-shamed-my-country ahead of the widely-expected announcement of a life ban. Whether the emotive and unequivocal wording is an attempt at mitigation of his ban or another symptom of his instability is anyone's guess, but it it is pretty much like an Alcoholics Anonymous opening statement. It remains to be seen whether the enquiry will now delve deeper than Vincent and Arif and expose other leading players rumoured to have been involved.

As you say, how deep will the enquiry go? I hope for Sussex's sake it ends here. Imho, the ECB will not have the balls to dig too deep. The ICC have made their position quite clear for decades. The ECB may merely follow their line, once they realise how deep the alleged corruption goes which in one way is sad, but in another keeps cricket alive as a thriving world sport. As that famous Morpheus quote from 'The Matrix' goes: "You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes." The ECB: "I will take the blue pill, please!" www.theargus.co.uk/sport/11311149.Match_fixer_Vincent_banned_for_life/?ref=eb
