I see next years' touring fixtures are out. As far as I can see no tourist fixture for Sussex. This is very disappointing news. Anyone have an explanation, as I thought Zac, soon after arrival, indicated he was keen for us to increase the number of these fixtures?

Sorry to labour the point but this new MB requires at least one moderator. The last MB had three! I spoke with the club's press officer today and while he's looking for someone is there anyone out there who wishes to take on this vital role? Without at least one sensible moderator this new MB could self-destruct within a month given the number of trolls out there. And we wouldn't want the other "exclusive club" to have a laugh at our expense... It might be helpful if the club - through the press officer perhaps? - posted directly on the board, giving some idea of moderator's duties, times they expect people to be on line, guidance on liaison over problems, what level of support can be offered, etc. The lack of clarity may be putting people off from volunteering, and some official staement, even on this unoffical forum, would be welcome. but if the club post directly on this board wouldn't that make it, er, 'official' which seems to be what they are trying to move away from ?

But they could post on the old board if they wished. At the moment, they could post on this board as a guest, if they were keen to avoid membership status!

bm,
"Think the very lightest touch in moderation is required and we don't need a long list of rules and regulations."
That decision is down to the moderator/s who choose to take on the job. My primary concern is how vulnerable this MB is, at present, to trolls and verbally abusive people who have carte blanche with what they can write and say and can hide behind a plethora of different guest names.
Imho, this MB is a lamb to slaughter until restrictions are put in place.
The Club must show more commitment to this new Unofficial Board. Setting up the basic outline is not enough. More substance and work is required. Yet, it is unfair for the administrator because setting up this MB is not in his remit - particularly when he's so busy elsewhere.
Does anyone have experience of creating a Proboards? Someone who can help and liaise with the administrator?

It's brilliant that your demanding the club sorts out moderation, the reason why the old moderators left the official board was because they were probably fed up with reading your condescending, arrogant, patronising, rude, elitist, intolerant or uppity, bitchin posts and fed up with receiving hundreds of argumentative private messages. So who ever has the bottle to take on this roll best be prepared for the onslaught of abuse.

I think it's becoming clear why the club wanted to unload the official board. I'm surprised they offered to help set up the template for the new one as people still seem to expect them to still take responsibility for it. If I was them I would set a deadline for someone to step forward as a moderator or if not delete the board. It's clear people who were the highest posters on the old board want a new board but aren't prepared to help run it.

The anonymity behind which the guests hide is the cyber equivalent of the balaclava. Are we dealing with the Inner Circle, the Real Inner Circle or Continuity Inner Circle? Why not just ignore them, lawnmower?

I think admin. urgently needs to remove the ability of 'guests' to post behind sniggering smutty playground names like A**e and Wa(y)n(e)king. The board should be open, but we have just seen proof of why registration has to be a condition of posting. Not sure why this hasn't already been done - it should take no more than a few seconds to change the settings.
The inner circle malcontents have their own private board. Can you please leave it at that, children? There is nothing witty or clever or amusing about trying to wreck this one before it has even properly got underway.

Just now, 21 members and 53 guests had been online during the previous 24 hours. I am not suggesting that many of the guests were intent upon posting, but those who post should be registered as members. Borderman is not shown as having posted. Has he an invisible footprint? No, I expect he has elected the option of not showing when he is online. Probably embarassed how often he logs in!

Come on someone must be prepared to just do a bit of moderating. The old board had 3 who shared the duties, I don't think you need to do much if we are all civil to each other and transparent, it's just case of refereeing it. I nominate S&F, Borderman and Flashblade.

Registered users don't need to log in more than once; you simply set up the computer to stay on-line without any need to do so!
And you didn't log in,'sussexsupporter' as you haven't even registered. But at least you haven't hidden behind a sniggering smutty name. I hope the moderators get an opportunity to check the IP addresses of these unregistered 'guests' such as messrs Hugh Jarse and Wa(y)n(e)king against the IP addresses on the old board so we can discover who these undignified wreckers are. I think we can probably guess their identity; but confirmation would be preferable before confronting them.

I think Borderman/Boringman? should be Moderator. After all, it was his going after George Dobell that created the difficulty in the first place and caused Sussex to pull the plug on the other place.
