What happens when counties like Sussex , Essex etc fold from 2022 onwards ? The ground is sold, who gets the money ? The members own the club!

I was about to post in relation to their latest proposal. What an absolute joke!
What difference is a maximum 20 balls less per side going to make? How does the loss of a few minutes make it more appealing to young people?
I don't normally get wound up by these things but this takes the biscuit.

I agree and I hope it gets laughed out of existence. They appear desperate to differentiate the new comp from all the established global T20 comps.
All those whose attention span can't cope with 120 balls per innings will be relieved to hear that it's now only 100 balls. They will surely descend on England's cricket grounds in droves.
And - does cricket really need a a 4th format??!

As they used to say on Monty Python "OK, this is getting too silly". I can't imagine what the benefit of 100 balls is. I suppose it's easier for commentators to say "That's 45% of the innings completed", but it would be 16 overs and 4 balls. How does that work with 5 bowlers? Oh, of course, it would 20 overs of 5 balls. But, why not 7 overs of 6 balls and 2 overs of 29 balls. OK, it's getting too silly.

One supposed reason is that it fits a 3 hour window for broadcasters. Again there is no difference there.
I won't be watching the franchise tournament regardless. I cannot get excited about supporting an entirely new team at the age of 27. I've followed Sussex since I was around 8, Chelsea since even younger (both of my Dad's clubs, Sussex due to Jon Snow despite being a Londoner!) and am ingrained in both.
This isn't like America where a new 'soccer' team is produced in the MLS that is accessible to an area without one previously. Or the Big Bash where franchises work due to the sheer size of the country and concentration of the overall population in cities.
I've read a comment on BBC from a Durham fan who has stated it would be 90 minutes to the nearest venue for his kids so hardly going to grab their interest over the existing system.

ECB are a bunch of morons. Graves should be driven out of the game he has corrupted. Morons is actually a polite word. Let's hope it all ends in tears. Why not go the whole hog and just have one over oer side plus fire eaters, jugglers, clowns (well there are plenty of them) etc. Make a good circus..😆

So this new comp in 2020 won't be 20:20 or T20. Presumably, it will be 16.4 : 16.4 or simply S16.4. Alternatively, perhaps it's Sixteen and Two Thirds....popularly called Sixteen and Two T*rds.
Anyway, I thought that a few years ago we had to stop playing our 40 over competition, as we needed to fit in with the 50 over format played by every other country.
Thankfully, this competition is not intended for me and the ECB seem really happy that many cricket lovers are rather appalled at this further dumbing down.
What was that Stealers Wheel song from years ago...."Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right".

You need something to call this thing by, in conversation, while trying not to wet yourself laughing. I refuse to dignify it with what I just read is the preferred working title: The 100, although when I first read about it I reckoned they'd probably call it Cricket 100 (like Martin Crowe's Cricket Max, but replacing Max with 100). I've got good form for this sort of thing. While watching the World Trade Center hit, live on the office TV, I said to a colleague "They'll definitely end up calling this 9/11 since it's also the American emergency number. It'll be too neat to resist".
Being partial to a spot of recreational New T20 branding, at the moment I'm calling it the City Sweet 16+, which has suitably sleazy connotations. Actually I just thought of a better one! Harrison and the rest are emphasising the counting down from 100 aspect, which they believe will make it more relevant to the (predominantly young) New Audience for Cricket. I shouldn't assume that the ECB bigwigs are oblivious to the internet habits of onanistic exhibitionists, but if they are, I can see them going for this name in all (relative) innocence. I refer, of course, to the 100-1 Countdown Challenge.

So ECB need Indian players to maximise revenue ... BCCI do not allow their players to play in other T20 tournaments ... so they make sure it is not T20

So ECB need Indian players to maximise revenue ... BCCI do not allow their players to play in other T20 tournaments ... so they make sure it is not T20 The BCCI could soon outlaw the new comp, if they felt like it. If the ECB think they've found a loophole, they may very soon see it closed.

I'm sure it's just coincidence, and the announcement of The Hundred hasn't actually rattled the guardians of two of the major short-form tournaments into making desperate attempts to remain relevant. Anyway there'll now be a T20 World Cup pretty much every year from the sound of it.
www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/23322073/back-back-world-t20s-replace-champions-trophy
And the T10 League in the UAE is to be expanded to more than twice its length and with more teams.
www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/23321049/t10-league-set-second-season-expansion
Eoin Morgan said recently, as one of the three players consulted by the ECB about The Hundred, "It's great to see innovation helping grow the game". Of course Morgan has never seen a short format he didn't like. Referring to T10, he's spoken of "the beauty of this format ... potentially ground-breaking ... will also impact the other forms of the game", etc. But as Flashblade has just observed, The Hundred seems to be getting a chilly reception from the wider playing population. I wonder whether the ECB are already regretting it and wishing they'd invited the possibility of a dissenting view or two, such as might have stayed their hand.
The Wikipedia definition of groupthink sounds about right:- "a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Group members try to minimise conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative viewpoints by actively suppressing dissenting viewpoints, and by isolating themselves from outside influences".
