Southern Braves it has to be then. I am looking forward to going along to a couple of their games next summer with a potential of 5 Sussex players to cheer on. Pity the side doesn't include Wright or Salt. 15-man squad: Jofra Archer, Andre Russell, David Warner, Liam Dawson, James Vince, Shadab Khan, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, Ross Whiteley, Delray Rawlins, Ollie Pope, George Garton, Alex Davies, Max Waller, Craig Overton.Coach: Mahela Jayawardene.Home venues: Southampton, Brighton. www.youtube.com/watch?v=S66Zhr6ddIs

So we've lost an entire team to this BS but...at least it'll help their futures financially.
Wicked Cricket you can argue all you like for the Hundred but the one question no one seems to answer is why this sort of cash hasn't been plugged into existing comps, in particular the Blast? That on FTA, cash injection for marketing like the Hundred, open up additional overseas player slot with ECB funding that player. Better results and it would have been how much cheaper than this?
If the hundred succeeds, there is a huge risk of cutting down to 8 'counties' in the long term. If it flops after a year as attendances struggle to hit 50%, the ECB cash reserves will have been pissed up the wall.
I am really struggling to see the positives.

A straight-forward answer. Neither SKY or BT Sports were interested in expanding the Blast and as the media companies keep cricket alive (the Championship would have been shut down years ago without SKY's money), the ECB had little choice but to create a new format which the media companies were interested in supporting.
the ECB cash reserves will have been pissed up the wall.
The additional money the ECB now have from the media rights will be used to promote the new competition, so it's a win win for them and a win win for cricket given all the additional publicity derived alongside for the hoped-for new people who will watch the sport for the first time.

You'll have to hope that they both turn up. BTW, I'm convinced that all players have been instructed to use the word "excited" about the ton. The PR folk must be hoping that the "excitement" becomes contagious.

Is that actually true? As far as I am aware, when both Sky & BBC signed up it was to a 2020 comp. It is not like you cannot fit that in a 3 hour window either! The BBC have no trouble showing Wimbledon for 2 weeks every year.the ECB cash reserves will have been pissed up the wall. The additional money the ECB now have from the media rights will be used to promote the new competition, so it's a win win for them and a win win for cricket given all the additional publicity derived alongside for the hoped-for new people who will watch the sport for the first time. The Hundred is forecasted to make a loss for at least 5 years and I don't think that includes the hush money paid to the counties either.

I see Sussex had most players of all the County sides drafted with 10, plus Jofra Archer making 11 involved in total. Leicestershire, on the other hand, did not have a single player included.

11 players and top of all the other 17 counties is a big compliment for Sussex. Sf, Sanjay Patel explained that the media companies were more attracted to a brand new tournament than expanding 'The Blast' when he came to Hove on his tour of the counties back in 2016. Here he is from 2018 explaining why the ECB have created 'The 100' and what they hope to achieve for English cricket. www.ecb.co.uk/video/668489www.ecb.co.uk/video/1461402/highlights-of-the-hundred-draftLet us cheer ourselves up and focus again: It doesn't matter what format, how many balls, where it's being played, who is coaching the teams, the players that come together to create a side... on just what an incredibly exciting, amazing, brilliant, superb, fantastic sport cricket is. www.ecb.co.uk/video/1454191/watch-an-incredible-summer

Which highlights how bad we've been over the last two seasons. We also have a half decent side for the 50 over comp when you take that lot away. Yet we finish 6th or whatever in div 2 and can't reach finals day. Give the coach a new contract - oh we have, a really long one. Idiots.

The ECB refuses to reveal set up costs to MPs www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27911397/mps-grill-ecb-chiefs-budget-hundred-amid-growing-costsECB tells MPs that "there's nothing wrong" with the T20 Blast. Who remembers Lord Graves justifying the need for a new competition by referring to the Blast as a "mediocre" tournament. It's painful to watch - the MPs are clearly worried about the impact of The Ton on the domestic structure. Graves and Harrison sound like politicians, trying to avoid giving straight answers.

After reading the report and watching the brief video exert of the proceedings, l wonder exactly what emotions are you left with.
Totally embarrassing, demoralised, angry or perhaps even enjoying some comedy gold at seeing the squirming evasiveness. For me, the emotions are a total mix of all of them.
So despite being asked SIX times, Harrison is unable to answer a simple, but quite fundamental question regarding the budget for the new tournament.
Perhaps, let me try and help out and provide a couple of rather obvious answers. 1. "Sorry, l won't reveal this figure as it would rather embarrass the ECB". or 2. "Frankly, l have not got a scooby doo what the actual figure is".
l am sure that l read somewhere that Harrison's total remuneration package was around £1 million (being a 19% increase on the previous year). Hope this episode reassures you as the VFM that we are getting).
When questioned, Graves implies consultation with "80,000 members". Now there was me, fully convinced that members had been totally ignored (based on the mantra that "it is not aimed at you anyway"). So please could someone try and enlighten me as to how the views of members have been taken on board?
Overall, the most worrying forecast is that the Hundred is projected to make a significant loss in the initial years. Additionally, an unknown expected loss of revenue for the other three competitions, plus a large number of p*ss*d off cricket supporters.
Very rarely agree with the sound bites from Eoin Morgan. However...."there is not enough room in our cricket season for 4 separate competitions". Could not agree more!!!

I knew the content before I opened the article last night. BBC protecting their investment instead of being impartial. What a surprise.
