If you’re looking in here as a Guest or have recently joined, welcome. We are sorry to hear that your long-established forum “We Are Kent” will be closing for comments after Christmas, and know that some of you may be looking here for somewhere else to talk about your interests. Message boards are virtual communities, and like extended families, or neighbourhoods, they encompass all shades of friendships, rivalries, and sometimes bitter feuds, but they do give a sense of common purpose and identity and it is hard to accept their loss when they have gone.
We are quite open to all shades of opinion and welcome thoughtful, rational arguments. There is no party line here on white ball v red ball, ECB v counties, Sussex v any other cricketing body; if there is something that you have to contribute then probably someone will want to read it, somebody will support it and almost certainly, somebody else will contest it! Our Rules are clear on what is tolerated, so please read them. We will be happy for any members to start threads on almost any subject and will welcome suggestions for new ideas - simply send me a private message if you'd like to discuss anything.

Dare I say and please spit me out in to 'The Garden of England', can our Forum offer 'We Are Kent' supporters an interim section/area within it, which offers them a breathing space to organise their own and new MB? Or would this prove too difficult and too much work?
Perhaps, they have already organised a new Forum? I remember a post from Bm some time ago that they were looking at a Proboards platform like ours.
PS: Those two new DIESEL advert videos at the bottom of the pages are causing havoc to my computer when they suddenly pop up.

They should take action to remove them very quickly. Or download an ad-blocker app, s&f. I can't see any ads on the site at all! It would be nice to give Kent supporters a home and make it a kind of 'Cricket in the Weald' site, covering Kent and Sussex with a geographical span 'from Canterbury to Chichester'. Very fitting, too, as the Inner Circle xenophobes went all Nigel Farage doolally about being swamped by foreigners lowering the tone of the neighbourhood when invicta1977, longhops and me first joined the old Sussex board... This board is relatively small and the WeAreKent board is tiny (which I guess is why it is shutting down). But together we would have one very healthy board, I think...

Sad to see it closing down, as it has always been a good sounding post for Kent cricket! Then again I've been one of those "foreigners" that the "inner circle" don't like! I've always enjoyed contributing on all things Sussex and sometimes Kent on this message board! So I feel sure "us from across the frontier" could get on well. Wishing all Sussex (and Kent and cricket supporters who come on here) a Very Merry Christmas and am looking forward to seeing you at Hove in 2017!

Like refugees in more serious circumstances, I hope we can make a positive contribution to our new locations and that existing inhabitants will not feel put out and will be able to tolerate hearing a different language in their world (or at least any Kent-leaning threads that may emerge among the general and Sussex-specific ones).

And I'm another refugee from We Are Kent, registered as A.S there, which I would rather stick to here if it was possible to change! On average I attend a couple of days CC cricket a year at Hove, so have more than a passing interest in matters Sussex.

Go to Profile > Edit Profile >Personal and Save changes...as I have taken the liberty of demonstrating here! The account name you registered under will not change.

It's great to welcome Kent supporters onto this Forum as Sussex CCC share various similarities.
Both have enjoyed past glories but now find themselves in Division 2 reflecting mostly on distant memories; although Kent are further up the road to recovery and were unlucky not to gain promotion this season.
Both hierarchies are against the City-Based Tournament; both will have, I believe, new Chairmen next season and fairly recent Head Coaches; and both sides have exciting youngsters emerging through the ranks. And I really enjoyed a two day visit to Tunbridge Wells in July to watch a hard fought draw.
So, I look forward to forthcoming chats on all things cricket.

Bloody hell, is that the University Challenge score or a prediction of next season's T20 between my two favourite counties?
I'm sad to see We Are Kent close , especially as I wrote the template for its structure for the site's excellent moderator, Bob Patterson, and invented its name (on edit - and yes, I've seen your sneering on WAK 'moskyokel' and it's 100 per cent true : not that it matters a jot, but Bob will confirm that I came up with the WAK name and wrote the list of thread topics and category headings that persist almost exactly as I conceived them to this day ..an experience, by the way, which was invaluable when we set up this site after the old Sussex board closed down.)
I hope even 'musky' will join us because it's a delight to see so many old Kent comrades on here. We have long been privileged to count longhops and invicta1977 among our regular contributors and it's terrific to see A.S. and others now joining us. The camraderie between us all at Tunbridge Wells was one of the highlights of last season, when hhs, s&f, longhops,A.S. ,invicta1977 and myself shared many a laugh - and glass - across the county divide.
I'm sure that same camaraderie will continue on here. Lets' see how it goes; but if it works out should the site be renamed 'The Unofficial Sussex Forum incorporating We Are Kent' - or is at an opportuniy for an entierly new name jettisoning the clumsy 'unofficial' tag which is totally gratuitous as it is patently obvious to everyone that it is not an official SCCC site?
Based on the happy comradeship we all enjoyed at T Wells last season, I don't foresee any partisan rivalry between the supporters of the two counties being a problem at all - although there will be some splendidly enjoyable gentle ribbing, I'm sure. As the season approaches there's going to be plenty on the Kent horizon to talk about, including a new head coach and, it is strongly rumoured, a new chairman. And the debate on the city-based tournament will certainly hot up because many of us on here are highly supportive of the ECB's plans, while from my occasional visits to We Are Kent, the majority of their most vocal contributors seem to regard the ECB as an evil pact between Stalin and Mao and the new T20 tournament as an abominable crime against humanity...
Let the debate begin!!!

Meanwhile our Kentish bretheren may be interested to read my obituary in tomorrow's Times of the wonderfully bohemian Tessa Wheeler, one of the county's best loved stalwarts as the chatelaine of Chilham Castle, on whose estate I believe the current KCCC chairman George Kennedy is fortunate to live :- www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/register/tessa-wheeler-ntrwtrwdx
