No Mills or Finch.
Squad: Ross Taylor © Chris Jordan Will Beer Ben Brown (wk) Danny Briggs Chris Nash Luke Wright Stiaan van Zyl Laurie Evans Phil Salt David Wiese George Garton Jofra Archer
My XI would be: Wright, Nash, Taylor (c), Evans, Van Zyl, Brown (+), Jordan, Archer, Beer, Briggs, Garton
So in short Evans, Garton and Taylor for Finch, Sakande and Wells.

Hi all We come to one of the highlights of the season in terms of interest, revenue stream and involvment. Perhaps its not everyone's cup of tea but I am excited ! So much so that my plans are to take in all 14 group games in the next 40 days and will be reporting/blogging for the Mid Sussex Times sports websites. Plus I have bought myself a T20 replica shirt today at £45 (I know a little bit extravagant !) Here with my review which appeared this week Don’t tell the Mrs but so confident of Sharks t20 Blast success I have wagered £50 each way at 18/1 Having watched a lot of Sussex 1st team cricket this season it’s safe to say the head coach Mark Davis is really starting to get a fine tune from his team. Results are on the rise and team spirit is on a real high right now. Plus the Sussex t20 squad is looking pretty tasty indeed. From ever popular players such as Luke Wright, Ben Brown, Chris Nash, Tymal Mills, Will Beer, Steve Magoffin and Chris Jordon we can throw in new blood such as skipper Ross Taylor, Stiaan Van Zyl, Lauri Evans and Abi Sakande. Plus there is real star quality in the emergence of Jofra Archer who can bowl fast, score fast and has a very safe pair of hands. Its time for The Sharks to break the shackles The 2017 t20 Blast campaign has been shoehorned into the school summer holidays with 14 intense group matches in 40 days. Finals day is on 2nd September at Edgbaston. That in itself will lend itself to huge and excitable crowds at all venues. Sussex have six ultra exciting fixtures at Hove, which I am sure that many of you will be in attendance and will have to travel on seven different occasions. It all kicks off at Arundel during the Raithbones Festival on Sunday July 9 against Glamorgan CCC. It's an occasion to savour with good weather on the cards in beautiful surroundings. Hopefully the Sharks can get off to a flyer. Please follow this column over the coming weeks as we bring you first hand experience of all 14 games both here in Sussex and around the country. As always the old Peugeot 206 (with 92,000 miles on the clock) will be gassed and oiled up ready to take on some long journeys to Taunton, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Canterbury and Southampton. The train will be used for the Oval and Lords. Lets get this thing off to a pulsating start tomorrow. See you all there and if you fancy following me on twitter @bowmanontheroad Go Sharks GOSBTS

t20everpresent, Your enthusiasm is infectious. Talking this week to Committee Member, Richard Barrow, the club has high expectations of this season's T20 campaign. At least, a QF position is the expected outcome. On paper, we have a cracking squad but everyone picked must play to their potential including Chris Nash, Tymal Mills and Luke Wright. Already, Mills is not fit for tomorrow's game although Mark Davis hopes he should be okay for Wednesday. I wish you every good luck with your brave £50 e/w wager at 18/1. I hope that if Sussex win the trophy you will buy every Forum Member a drink.

I think Wiese will play, and I think Salt should. Surprised Rawlins isn't in the squad. One of him or Salt should be at five/six for me. Not sure VZ's required in this form. Think I'd put Brown at three then it's all hitters from there.
Nash Wright Brown Taylor Evans Salt Wiese Jordan Archer Beer Garton

Also my choice of XI with Archer batting before Jordan and Mills in for Garton when he is fit.

Salt and Garton miss out. If Mills had been fit he would have played so why not play Garton who took 4-16 in this fixture last year.
Sussex win the toss and bowl first.

I'm guessing they think the pitch is slow and low given the choice to play both Beer and Briggs.

I'm guessing they think the pitch is slow and low given the choice to play both Beer and Briggs. No argument as to which of the two was most successful. Maybe Beer's in for his batting?!

Reality check. We'd have a better chance of winning if we picked the right side. Garton being ignored again is ridiculous, especially with Mills missing. What are the management not seeing with this lad?
Defensive selections get what they deserve.
Beer's in for wickets Flash, Briggs for economy - so Beer will be dropped if any of the two considering the management's mind-set.

If Garton took 4-16 last year against the same opposition why not play him?

I'm impartial on this, but Briggs did take a wicket and his economy rate was 50% of Beer's. Beer went for 20 in over 17, then Briggs was given over 19 and conceded 6. Problem for Beer is if he gives away too many runs, he reduces his chance of taking wickets.

One positive to come out of the game is Wrights form with the bat, a great 100 from him.
Nash is having a bleak time of it in all forms of the game and needs to go off and get himself some big scores in the seconds.
One thing to consider with Beer is that Arundel is a very small ground and a lot of those 6's may well have been caught on the ropes at Hove. However I would bring Garton in for Beer and Salt in for Nash in the next game.........
.......but it won't happen!

One felt the Glamorgan score was 20 runs too much and this proved to be correct. A strange decision from Captain Taylor. Why didn't Archer bat higher up the order given his 42 runs off 14 balls in the Championship game?
Lukey, lukey, lukey... a great 100 but no-one stayed with him. Hero to zero for Van Zyl... should he have been picked? A disappointing start for Sussex when early wins are essential.
Meanwhile, a write-up of the day coming up on the WickedCricket Blog. Can't wait to read Mr everpresentT20's view of the match. His £50 E/W bet already looking fragile.
