We are batting first, Angus Robson makes his debut. It'll be interesting to see how he goes this morning opening with Wells.

An odd selection. What does that say to Salt? You're not good enough?
I find the team selection both odd & negative. Wiese, how does he keep getting selected? Is this Davo or Brown?
Why no Beer? Are 4 wickets too many for a spinner? Oh he's attacking not defensive, we can't do that.
I hope I'm wrong and they win but I have doubts.

In his last first-class outing he returned figures of 1-88 off 10. He's showing a lot of promise but to say he is more of a wicket taker than Wiese or Robinson is stretching it a bit. Didn't everybody get smashed that day? Especially by Wessels. Don't forget the promise of last summer of 18 wickets in 6 matches before the infamous "groundsman's injury". Y6 |

Advantage Sussex I would say thanks to Wells 85, Nash 118 and Jordan 57*.
342/7 at stumps and crucially 3 batting points.
Weather forecast has improved for tomorrow so we need 400 runs then 10 wickets before stumps to get the max bonus points before the rain on Tues and Weds.

Bad start,(as we feared with that odd batting line up?) decent middle and end to the day.Shouldn't lose now. Have to say it was very enjoyable listening in to the Worcs commentary as always. Gentle, very funny and objective.

Criminal playing Briggs ahead of Beer. Briggs averaging 50 all season, 2-114 last game, Beer 4-88 in only game of season, out you go. The invisible man. As mentioned, very defensive. Don't agree with the Weise selection either but he actually gives you the opportunity to play a more attacking spinner than Briggs, but no. Very poor mind-set. Frightened.
Well done Nash. Need an opener to replace him as well then. Won't wanna go back there any time soon. Thought Robson couldn't play? Trouble with Salt is that he's seen as too reckless for an opener in the longer form, I think. Should be in the T20 team.

It might just might make him, if you don't try you won't find out.
Plenty of safe picks in cricket that have moved up a level and failed, Robson I feel is one of them. Like his brother, over rated. Now where's he these days, haven't seen him in the Middx team recently?
I digress, Salt can do no worse.
Beer can improve the team and give the attacking option lacking.

Archer is not only a brilliant cricketer but a lucky one too. A perfect combo. Barnard got him out twice this morning but on each occasion
via a no-ball.
Question: Why didn't Sussex go for the full 5 batting points? They missed out by 9 runs. I never understand the county attitude. Missing
out on that one point can make all the difference. Is this not the second time, at least, this season? Are the batsmen not following the
scoreboard? At least, Worcestershire failed gaining their third bowling point by 3 balls.

He's 10th in the First Divison averages, averaging 53.70 from 10 innings with 2 hundreds and 2 fifties. |
