Looking forward to the trip up there tonight (well, not the journey up, but the rest of the night - hopefully). Would love to see a Sussex win (despite being a member and going as often as poss, home and away, the joys of shift work means I haven't seen a single win this year!). Would like to see Wright score a few, and Nash to continue shutting the moaners up!

An encouraging tweet from Natwest T20 Blast. In a previous interview Davis reckons Wright will be playing but Mills is doubtful. It's hard to imagine the Mills will be fit enough to bowl 12 overs in 4 days.

VZ's form and Wright's return forces a change in balance. Could have dropped Evans and included the second spinner but ultimately our balance this way is better.
Good start tonight.

Colossal cock-up - Evans, Taylor, Wiese, why?
Call for half the glorious seconds.

How on earth did Sussex lose that? Ridiculous! 28 runs off 38 balls from Taylor down, in short.

Brainless batting at the death. Once again we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Sharks Denied in Lords Photo Finish
Its been a cracking day out yours truly combining the splendour of Brighton Race course and the spectacular Home of Cricket Lords. However the trip home from London this evening proved to be a sombre one.
A few weeks ago I was invited to attend the Brighton Race Course Ladies Day at their three day festival. Naturally it was an opportunity not to be missed so quickly agreed to attend. It wasn't until earlier in the week that it became apparent that the day clashed with Sharks visiting Middlesex CCC in the Nat West T20 Blast. After a hard look at logistics both events could be done.
So with race card in hand we bussed up to Race Hill and took our place in the grandstand on a sun kissed afternoon. As usual the course looked breath-taking with the south downs running to the north and the English Channel glistening to the south. After 4 races excuses were made and long haul to London began around 3.30pm. Train to Victoria, tube to St Johns Wood and then a 10 min walk to the east Gate. It was there my friend Bryan was waiting with Edrich Upper tickets at £20 a pop. (Pretty good value to be honest)
Upon settling down skipper Ross Taylor lead his team out with the ball in hand. Indeed we got off to a great start as the hosts had trouble in making boundaries. We took 4 good catches, the pick, a wondrous effort from David Weise who nearly collided with Chris Nash in the process. Ground fielding was neat and accurate. The pick of the bowlers was Chris Jordan who took 2 for 29 followed by George Garton 1 for 26. At half time Sharks fans would of been very optimistic having to chase 148 for a famous victory.
Chris Nash is having a great time right now, his 52 ball 69 could and probably should have set Sussex up for an easy win. With Stiaan van Zyl playing a steady 34 runs we looked to be on easy street. The runs just keep coming at the required rate of one a ball. 18 needed off 18, 12 of 12, and then 5 off the last over. But then all hell seemed to break out as Jofra Archer and David Weise seemed to want to get the job done in one almighty head up heave across the line. We needed three off the last ball and it was the hosts who got up on the rails in the final stride. We lost by two runs.
It is two points dropped but this columnist still hasn't given up on quarter final qualification and I suspect that head coach Mark Davis hasn't either. We will all need to rally again today (Friday 11th) as Gloucestershire CCC rock up to the 1st Central County Ground, Hove. Win that and we will be back in the quarter final hunt as we go to the Oval on Sunday afternoon.
Sharks are still very much alive in the Nat West T20 Blast !

Brainless cricket from Sussex, to conspire to lose that game when seemingly well set. How many times have we worked ourselves into an odds on winning position, only to throw it away at the death. I suppose it's encouraging that we are able to regularly get ourselves in such a position, but in truth, we don't have the batting firepower to succeed in this competition. Taylor and Evans have been hugely disappointing signings.
