The express train of T20 matches is close to its end station for Sussex and this Surrey contest will be the penultimate game in their qualifying round. The Surrey match is another "must must" win for Sussex as they fight for a QF place. The squad is unchanged from Friday evening. Q: Will we see the return of Mills for such an important game? Although, stand-in George Garton is keeping his end up and showing good improvements to his bowling. Perhaps, still too many short balls but there is a canniness to his play now. Meanwhile, it's time for Captain Ross Taylor to contribute to the batting and one feels Luke Wright has more major knocks in his locker. www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/preview-unchanged-squad-for-surrey

Going to need a good start with the bat in this one.
Sky need to ditch Flintoff from the commentary team. Dreadful!

That 18th over may haunt David Wiese for the rest of the season. I hope he recovers from the humiliation and quickly. The QF places could well come down to the last game of the tournament.
Meanwhile, massive praise to Chris Jordan who bowled superbly again alongside Will Beer.

Brainless bowling by Wiese and Archer when it was obvious that pace-off the ball was required. Brainless captaincy when Wiese and Archer were being punished not to throw the ball to van Zyl for a couple of overs.

Brutal Finch Puts Sharks T20 Blast hopes on Knife Edge Sussex Sharks would have travelled to sunny south London today in great heart after a moral boosting home win last Friday. Indeed the Nat West T20 Blast table looked rosy with the team sitting in third place. Unfortunately for the 2nd time in four days we had to leave the capitol with zero points. Unlike the game at Lords, where we lost in a photo, Surrey CCC were in no mood to give an inch. Thanks to an Aaron Finch unbeaten ton they won at a canter. Having won the toss Surrey built an inns of craft and entertainment in equal measures. Jason Roy (50) and Finch completed the perfect power play scoring sixes at will. At 101 for 1 off 11 they were in the driving seat and wowing a big home support. Beer and Jordan both bowled very well for the visitors only giving up 42 runs between them. But Surrey just kept finding more and in the 18th over Finch smashed 4 consecutive maximum's off David Weise. The last of which came our way and was caught on the fly by a home supporter who apparently won £1000 in the bargain. They finished on 193 and as Shark you could only stand and applaud. In response Chris Nash completed his 2nd half century in London but in truth none of the other visitors got involved. Perhaps the most positive aspect for the Hove team was that Archer and Jordan hit late runs which just might prove invaluable come late on Friday evening. I would like to thank my wife Jan and best mate John for accompanying me to the Oval. Despite the result we had a nice afternoon in the sunny weather and in truth we witnessed on the best knocks of the current T20 competition. We head back to our gorgeous 1st Central County Ground, Hove on Friday evening for the last of 14 group games against Essex. The South Group is so tight that Pythagoras himself wouldn't be able to work out all the permutations. Lets just say to qualify for the Quarter finals Sharks need to win and then prey to the gods. Six other teams are in much the same situation ! Lets get to it !

So Taylor's expensive contribution to our T20 campaign has been tactically inept captaincy and no runs. Coasting along on his fat contact. We have a very good squad in this form, if we don't make the QFs it will be down to Taylor and a host of wasteful and ill-judged signings pre-season by Davis.
We weren't awful tonight, Surrey have a devastating opening pair and a very good attack but overall we are consistently under achieving. One decent performance every ten games doesn't warrant keeping out our talented youth.
I would have Garton, Rawlins and Salt ahead of Taylor, Evans and Wiese ten times out of ten. As a Sussex fan I would much rather watch them play too.

joe, I am told Colin was drinking this particular "extra strength" brew.
Although, given Sussex's performance this might be more appropriate.

That tv presentation has to be one of the worst in memory. Breathtakingly bad. Flintoff is toe-curlingly unfunny but just encouraged by the buffoons around him. Lob in Pietersen and his ego as well and dear oh dear what an embarrassing mess.

I followed nemmo's example. Sky's commentary has almost instantly been reduced from reasonably sane, informed comment to what you would expect at a boys' night out in Riga. Spare us.

Chris Nash is our top T20 run scorer this year, but without looking, who is our second highest?
