I looked at the score this morning and noticed that the game between Melbourne Renegades Women and Sydney Sixers Women, who incidentally only scored one six, had ended in a tie. Both teams had scored 120 for 7 off their 20 overs. I noticed that Sydney Sixers had also scored 8 for 2 from 1 over. It was around 6am and I wasn't fully awake but I wrongly concluded that they were playing a second game. Of course, it was a one over tie-breaker, which Melbourne Renegades won by scoring 9 for 0 off their over. Exciting stuff, I expect.

A bit more interesting than that. Sydney Sixers needing three to win off the last ball of the 20, only managed a gentle single but whilst Melbourne were celebrating the win stealthily sneaked back for a second to tie the match. Rather similar to a Sussex v Kent ladies match in 2015 (which went to appeal) when Sussex ran a single to tie during the Kent win celebrations!

It will make a good quiz question in 10 years’ time.
