So the top brass have decided to have a clean sweep of the guardians of this programme who have a combined continuous service of over 50 years. Maybe it would be even better to put this show out to pasture since the days when it featured the top sports stars of the day has long gone. These days they aren't interested. Perhaps a reflection of a product in its twilight era.
However SB has been a good presenter. Far better than the self opinionated David Coleman who loved asking the guests his own (utterly boring) questions about a recent event in which they had participated , unless it was cicket which he knew naff all about, and was left with his stock line "what's it like touring with Beefy?" żzzzz.
And you did wonder how much interest Botham had in the sport from which he gained his fame since his ignorance on cricket outside his playing days was embarrassing. Remember the ritual "Home or Away Ian"? Reply "Home, tut". Predictable weak laughter from the smiley audience, followed by a blank response from the baffled captain and which Billy Beaumont invariably knew the answer.
