In the absence of Steve (Ajax), can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether can Mags can be registered as a non overseas next season? It's a question I've raised before, without getting an answer, but it could be crucial to our squad strengthening plans

Not sure whether he does already, but I think it would be a good idea to get this fellow involved in the coaching set up. He would be the ideal person to teach our young seamers the virtues of line and length. Of course he's vital to our four day aspirations but because he doesn't really do much of the one day stuff, couldn't we utilise him as a coach. Maybe it's something he'd like to get involved in, with one eye on the future.

Great news that Mags has signed a 2 year contract and from Jun '15 should have a UK passport as well as an Aussie one ! Announced on Saturday night at the Awards night dinner which was an excellent evening

I'm struggling to remember whether a UK passport allows a player immediately to play as a non- overseas or whether there are any further stages of registration/administration that delay this. Anyone know whether this is the case or not?

So there it is then, June, no new signing until then is the way to go - and then a banker good'un. There's only really one domestic tempter to convince me of another route - Harris. But if we genuinely have corn for two dogs, and a 'Harris' ain't gettable, this has to be the way to go, surely. Quality over quantity Robbo, even if it comes a bit later. I just said titty.

This, and we might be able to recruit an overseas from mid May onwards when the t20 starts. This season there was only one championship match played between the start of the T 20 competition and the 1st of June.

Surprised I've not seen any comment on this story: "Steve Magoffin has signed a new two-year contract, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2016 season." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/29479438
