Absolutely superb performance from Haines and Pujara. Two class players and great for them to put some pride back in the shirt
Personally I support the team wholeheartedly but still want Grubby and Squeaky out. I think it’s great that there are others who disagree with this and I like reading their posts and trying to understand their views of why Grubby is doing a great job - defo makes this board more interesting. (Even if I still can’t understand their point of view!)
Ps realab - grubby has also dismantled our t20 side as well mate!

Losing hasn't got him sacked so far Gordy. Nor has getting rid of our best players, replacing them with school children and becoming a team that plays to draw at best at Derby, of all places. I think he's safe unless he's turns out to be Jack the Ripper.
We all know change at the top is needed. I can't believe this f****r Andrew is still at the club. He need to go. Then there's your mate the Ripper, he needs to go quick. And I ain't impressed with any coach who makes the baffling decisions we're already seeing from Salisbury.

This was a fighting draw. Congratulations to Haines and Pujara for their gritty determination. Now we need to see more consistency amongst the Sussex batters as a team.
At least, this is a start.

Because our cricket and results over the last year or so have been abysmal, some of us aren’t happy. Doesn’t mean I don’t support them.

Football managers are sacked for a bad run of games, Grubby is still here after 5 bad seasons which have got progressively worse. Someone has to take the rap old chap, he’s the Director of Cricket ffs! If you don’t like the heat, get out of the kitchen. What you have to remember is that paying members don’t care that there are some nice new flats or that the books are balanced or that Tom Jones is performing in the summer. They want to see Sussex CCC winning games and trophies or at the very least competing for them. That won’t happen if their best players have been pushed out and replaced by kids, and who’s responsible for that? Back to this game and once again we are left trying to scrape some sort of performance together. Well batted to Tom and Chet in the second innings but this is Derby we’re talking about, they are bottom feeders and if we can’t beat them that makes us bottom feeders too and that makes me very sad indeed. You forget our T20 success. I actively give up. I genuinely believe you want us to lose so they get fired, which makes me feel sad. You actively give up?🤷♂️ You make it sound like we’re being unreasonable and we've enjoyed great success in recent times. Where does Joe say he wants us to lose? What exactly in his post is unfair?

I’ve always thought that bonus points in the CC often failed to reflect reality. Derbyshire scoring maximum bonus points and Sussex scoring minimum points hardly reflects what happened. Bonus points do not take any account of how easy/difficult a pitch is. Further, if you bowl a team for 700 in 110 overs, you still get maximum bowling points. I wonder if this will ever be reappraised.

I couldn't agree more. The Aussie Big Bash T20 League is more imaginative when it comes to amassing points offering additional ones if merited. Perhaps, county cricket could be a little more imaginative too?
How are points awarded in BBL?
Three points available for a win, one for no result, and none for a defeat. The Bash Boost – the bonus point awarded to the team with more runs at the 10-over stage –remains following its introduction last year, as will the Power Surge, a two-over batting powerplay that can be taken at any point after the first four overs. The addition of X-Factor substitutes is also being carried over into a second year The team chasing will receive a bonus point if they're above the equivalent 10-over score of their opposition, while if they're trailing, the fielding side will receive the point. If the score at the 10-over mark is equal, both teams will get 0.5 points each.
Imho, batting and bowling points should be awarded for a Championship second innings too. At present, the county system is too black and white, unfair and imbalanced. It needs to be updated to reflect the team's two innings performance and not just one.
