So probably the last game for us as qualification depends on other results going our way.
We seem to have stumbled on a good line up after having to replace injuries etc. Ward and Currie have both taken their chances and performed well.
Would be good to end with a win.

I think we need to bat 1st score 250 and bowl the opposition out for 94.
Somerset 121 off 10 overs beat Kent 120.
Surrey 151 beat Essex 150.
Qualification hugely unlikely.

Adrian Harmes is Sussex's most lethal wicket taker who can talk a Sussex batsman out from 100 yards away. 52-4 batting's gone. Shadab Khan has been a poor signing.
Next season I would like to see 14 T20 games played on Friday and championship on Sunday to Wednesday.

Looking to defend 160.
Decent from Ward and Burgess but I feel we are 20/30 short.

Well played Harrison Ward and Michael Burgess.
At 132-5 after 16 overs we looked on for a score of at least 170. However, not for the first time in the tournament this season, we failed to make the most of the final overs.
Not the cleverest of decisions to dance down the wicket by H-P, which was the catalyst for the collapse. Would have probably been better to have seen out Van Buuren's last over.
We ran the risk of not batting out our overs. Fortunately, some good work in the final over by Burgess to ensure we have a competitive total to defend.

Yes well done Harrison Ward with the bat but why was he brought on to bowl, in preference to Brad Currie for example? Not that he let us down with the ball but I’m baffled by the decision.

So Gloucestershire get there with 3 overs to spare. Ward and Burgess apart that was a poor showing in all departments.
I’m just glad I don’t have to see Bopara again this year, something about the man I really don’t like.

Disappointingly tame end to the tournament for us but still, some encouraging signs in our other recent games. We’re a lower mid table side, roughly equivalent to our standing in red ball cricket. Lots of room for improvement in both formats but a reasonable base to build on.

Joe was spot on, twenty to thirty runs light of setting a winning total. But we didn't help ourselves with 15 wides!!!
It was interesting that once the team felt they were out, unable to progress to the quarter finals and the pressure was off, we won three consecutive matches. As soon as there was an outside chance of qualifying and the pressure was back on, we were unable to put together a performance.
To be fair, in my humble opinion it was always going to be a big challenge given the recent departures from our T20 squad to qualify, but on a positive note we have ended up doing a lot better than our initial performances suggested would be the case. Furthermore and perhaps more importantly, we don't look that far away from being a competitive unit.
Similar to last year, when Alsop was initially excluded the eventual introductions of Ward, Carter, Karvelas and Currie not only made us stronger, but invited the question as to why they were not in the side from the outset.
The injury to Orr was a significant loss and his inclusion alongside a fit Alsop and Garton will add significant further improvement. I would suggest stronger leadership is also required as is a more astute overseas signing.
When Shadab was good, he was very good. Unfortunately that was nowhere near frequent enough from an experienced overseas and primary spinning option.
Only two innings of note, albeit exceptional, but of greater concern, 12 wickets from 12 matches at 28.66 at an economy of 9.33. Today's match was a prime example. Van Buuren 4-0-13-2. Shadab 4-0-37-1.
At least the team now have a week to rest, recover and regroup before our next Championship match against Derbyshire.

Perhaps we are not too far off in the T20. All four Quarter Finals won by the southern teams. This also happened in 2021.

Can Sussex apply to join the north group?

Can Sussex apply to join the north group? I do think they should mix up the groups more even though I appreciate that Durham travelling to Somerset is a long haul for a two-and-a-half hour thrash about. Maybe, an east-west split alternate years. I know Gloucestershire are angry that Worcestershire, their neighbours and good crowd-pullers, are either side of the north-south divide. If it's the number one professional T20 tournament in England, there should be no north-south divide and every team should play each other home and away within a group.

Top eight qualify for quarter finals with top four getting a home draw - this would ensure few dead matches. Other fixtures would have to go - Cheerio 50 over cricket then ?

I'd do a seeding based on the previous years performance odd numbers in Group 1 even numbers in Group 2
