It’s nice when it stops but we only get one day off. The pain starts again on Sunday.

Farbrace sounded like the fight has been taken out of him when he spoke after the game. There is not a coach in the world who could have turned this team into winners this season . If we fold in the championship games, he will surely question whether he’d be better off elsewhere.

Just to add I completely blame Pujara for Coles getting out, he forces everyone else to throw the bat at everything, and I realise most of you won’t agree with me but there you are! Very valid point.

If we fold in the championship games, he will surely question whether he’d be better off elsewhere. Again, very valid point. So the question is why? Personally in my opinion, the decision a couple of years ago to play an entire team of teenagers together is to blame. They had nobody to learn from, they learned to lose together. Farbrace has spoken more than once this season about trying to teach them how to win, about how difficult that is when they’ve won so few games together. When Luke Wright retired he gave an interview about his introduction into the Sussex team in 2004, and how many knowledgeable and experienced players he could turn to, and said he wouldn’t have been the player he was without that help. Obviously we can’t expect to have that level of player now but having a group of young lads playing together with so few experienced players to learn from, basically Pujara and Smith for a few weeks is about it, makes it unlikely they’ll actually be successful together. Having said that all is not lost of course, a good September and incredibly we could find ourselves in division one next year, if Ollie plays 2/3 games with the addition of Unadkat, it’s certainly possible. Personally a 3rd/4th place finish would please me and represent a marked improvement, and give us a chance to strengthen further. We’re clearly going to continue down the path we’re on and the best we can hope for is steady improvement and a group of young players that start to learn how to win.

It sounds like Kent: We have been great, but also awful( Our heaviest ever 1 day loss by 254 runs V leics.) I love Farby. He had a rough time at Kent when he was coach(huge financial issues as we had players who were on massive wages. Interesting in his interview with AH that he said he's not interested in the Director of Cricket post at Kent. That's my hopes dashed! Hopefully down on Tues for Sussex V Warwickshire.

I’m sorry, I don’t buy this Pujara hero worship, as he protects his wicket everyone else has to take chances, he is the senior pro, we don’t have time for him to play himself in, he needs to push on, now. Hunt didn't get it right with the new ball, he usually doesn't Crocombe was smashed around all day as he often is Haines took Carson and Ibrahim off when they both a good control and rhythm, when they came back on they couldn't find that same rhythm again and went or runs Coles was expensive Haines didn't get runs Alsop didn't get runs Ibrahim didn't get runs Tear didn't get runs And now you want to blame Pujara, our talisman and leading run scorer! Pujara has been hugely successful for us playing in the way that he does, slower to start with but kicking on through the gears as the innings progresses. Very bizarre how you want to pin the blame on the bloke who averages 90 with the bat. Regarding the bowling, there is a common denominator with all of the bowlers' struggles. James Kirtley. Whichever young bowler he works with don't seem to improve or progress. The batters progressed when Grant Flower came in, the bowlers haven't at any point under Kirtley. A fantastic player for us, but he has to go. I can't understand why Karvelas hasn't had more game time during this tournament. No word of any injury and leading wicket taker in 50 over cricket last season, yet only 1 appearance in this campaign.

No word of any injury and leading wicket taker in 50 over cricket last season, yet only 1 appearance in this campaign. Hunt wasn’t too bad with the new ball, yet again he had a catch put down off his bowling. Agree about Crocombe, if he is the best available we can’t bowl him in PP1 with only 2 fielders out. Agree completely about Haines taking two bowlers who were in and bowling well off, I wouldn’t have done that. Agree Coles was expensive, but he was brought on when Gloucester were well ahead of the rate and the batsmen were well set and confident. Agree Haines, Allsop, Ibrahim and Tear didn’t get runs, and the first two were in the side solely for that so some blame can be attached, but the innings had stalled by the time Ibrahim came in and by the time Tear did the game was gone, perhaps they should all have started slowly too, way to go when facing a RR of 8.2 over 38 overs? Pujara might on paper be our leading run scorer but when the RR is 8.2 playing yourself in for more than a few balls just isn’t an option. He was the senior pro in the side by a country mile, he should have taken the initiative, when the RR is 10 and he is going along at 4 his partner has to go along at 16. This is not his first offence in my view either, looking back he does well when the RR is 6 or less, his best strike rate in this competition is 103, but he can’t, or won’t, score faster when the team needs him to, so yes, I still completely blame him for Coles getting out.

An unacceptable team performance.
