Squad Atkins, Alsop, Carson, Carter, Coles, Crocombe, Foreman, Haines (c), Hudson-Prentice, Hunt, Ibrahim, Lion-Cachet, Pujara, Tear, Ward.
My XI would be Ward, Lion-Catchet, Carter, Coles (c), Ibrahim, Tear wk, Carson, Foreman, Crocombe, Atkins, Hunt
We got absolutely smashed last time out with Haines (no runs), Alsop (no runs), Pujara (too slow) and Hudson-Prentice (no runs or bowled poorly) so we may as well give the youngsters a chance can they really do any worse than last time which was an utter shambles. I would rather Haines, Alsop, Pujara and Hudson-Prentice were rested for the championship rather than playing in a nothing match (we're out therefore it is a nothing match).

I don’t really get the anti-Pujara stuff. The most likely scorer of a hundred is undoubtedly Pujara. If we’re chasing 8+ per over, the bowlers have almost certainly lost the game already. We need Pujara to get 100, the team to score 300+ and we have a chance if the bowlers perform decently. I seem to recall last season that Pujara murdered some bowlers in the 50-over competition. I think we lack good hitters at 6, 7 or 8. We miss Rawlins in this competition and McAndrew would have been handy with bat and ball.

Without looking, I'm going to say Pujaras 2 hundreds we never went beyond 300, I'd nit say it's anti pujara, just the fact his scoring rate doesn't help.

Atkins, Currie, Foreman and Lion-Catchet for Carson, Crocombe, Hudson-Prentice and Pujara. Sussex won the toss and are batting.

Another failure for Alsop and Haines. They have been absolute waste of space in this competition. What is the point of perserving with them FFS?

His strike rate over the comp to date is about 82, in the last match the run rate started at 8.2 and rose steadily, when we need 10 an over and he is going at 4 it forces his batting partner to go at 16. That is my objection, to paraphrase someone wittier than me, Pujara was playing county cricket while Gloucester were playing T20

When Farbrace said the team can’t get any lower it was meant as a statement, not a challenge!

We can’t drop everyone who isn’t performing. We are obliged to field a team of 11 players You can if they are not performing. My point is that when none of the squad is performing you can’t drop the whole lot. Some people have to play. Meanwhile, the only tension in today’s game is whether we’ll manage to take a wicket.

Time for performance related pay to be introduced at Sussex.

We have at least taken a wicket and it’s young Bertie Foreman. Good for him and for Ibrahim for reaching 50. Two crumbs of comfort from another disappointing day.
