Not surprising that he should do this in view of his, and seemingly the Indian cricket establishment's, lack of interest in the Test game, so evident on last summer's tour. That he should do so before the end of a series, with India losing despite encouraging performances by younger batsmen, just continues the trend to disrespect for the format. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/30632182At his best he could be an exciting and unpredictable batsman, and what used to be called a sporting wicketkeeper i.e. one who might as easily pull off a blinding catch as shell a simple chance or miss an easy stumping. His going will at least give India the chance to save a few runs and maybe give his hard-wrorking bowlers a few more deserved wickets.
