Archer once more gains the headlines, but this time at a local level. He really is the perfect cricketing diplomat. If anyone was to create the ideal player including temperament, physique, demeanour, smile, ability, skill... Jofra would be it. Will he be able to cope with the growing pressures from all sides? Absolutely, the World Cup Super Over proved it. This lad has everything laid before him. He will do wonders for cricket and inspire so many youngsters to take up the sport. Go get it Jof... that and the £££millions.

Impressive for Sussex CCC in the 60 ball tournament, but George Garton has much to prove.

A heavily promoted event by the Sussex CCC marketing boys and from all accounts a great success. Congrats. Ageing is a strange phenomenon. Everyone is differently affected. Below is Kevin Keegan from his Liverpool FC pomp days. Out of 10 how's Kev done? I give him an 8. He's kept his hair for a start.
Compare Keegan's rise to grey-hair with these other celebrities.

The Sharks are swimming all over the world at present. T10, T20, this Franchise that Franchise, next year The 100, so unfortunately, it is becoming apparent that Sussex CCC and their top players are morphing into the ultimate short over team where less and less emphasis will be placed on the Championship.
Can a club specialise in one type of format?
The Championship is dying. Already there are rumours of a 12 match competition by 2021 and, perhaps, from 2024, this will drop to 10 games. After the huge disappointment of last season can you seriously see Sussex gaining promotion to Division 1 within the next few years now it's back to two teams?
If the dream team management do decide to focus even more on the short format then they need to win one of the English competitions where the T20 is their obvious best chance. The addition of Bopara strengthens that opportunity, but a top new seamer to replace Topley is essential for another push in 2020.
Meanwhile, Essex have brilliantly displayed that a county team can win both the Championship and T20, but one fears that major feat is well beyond Sussex for the time being.
Meanwhile, GO THE SHARKS and show the world what fantastic short-form cricket players Sussex CCC have.

Our dear Monty has moved on from his keep fit classes to being a football pundit now. He appears more confident in front of the camera with fewer 'ums' and 'ahs' alongside more vigorous arm and hand movements when speaking.
Watching Harry Hill recently as a co-presenter of 'Junior Bake-Off', airing a less silly and more subdued demeanour, is there a children's TV market for someone as innocent, airy-fairy and even, dare I say, as childishly endearing as dear Monty? He certainly gets a 10 for trying and his enthusiasm is there for all to see.
Check out his other recent footie vids on the Monty Channel.

A 25 second clip on how to lift a barbell, now whatever this is sposed to be. I'd like to see him play football, that I would watch. Somebody film 25 seconds of that and put it on Monty channel.

I agree with liquidskin. The Monty Channel is an embarrassing farce. I think he needs to get a proper job.

I see has been said on here that championship cricket is dying, It is looking increasingly likely you will be right. With just a little marketing this could be reversed and have no doubt 2000 spectators a day who prefer longer form could be attracted to at least first 2 days. My objection is the decline has been encouraged by those above who show no interest in County cricket. Apart from standard declining where you now see no top players who on earth wants to watch cricket in there coats in April,May and September. It was not long ago I entertained clients for lunch during a County game. Now if I renewed membership I am asked to pay same price when 50 over games will be played by Academy players. If County cricket is dying it has nothing to do with Joe public. Do Sussex disclose how many members renewed ?
