The other media outlets have picked up on the story. The BBC Website are more subdued stating, "A man in his 20s, understood to be batsman Liam Livingstone, sustained a head injury at The Auction House bar in New Street, Ashford." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-33953320

HH This was a Kent on line story that hit the airwaves about 2pm yesterday afternoon. Here it is from Kentonline www.kentonline.co.uk/…/cricketer-glassed-while-cele
If you look on Facebook Kent Supporters club one or two people have gone into overdrive about it. Some have said that the town is hell on earth etc... This could have happened in any town in the South-East or even the country! They've even got bouncers outside pubs in my hometown every night! The report above indicates that this was some lout who took exception to being accidently pushed. I find it sad that Professional players can get hammered by the media for an incident they became involved in because some half wit got pushed accidently!
It would have been good for the media to have mentioned that, after his Sky Mom interview and presentation and interviews with radio stations, Jos Buttler then joined the KENT players in an autograph and photograph session for youngsters and true cricket fans. He was signing for at least 30- 40 minutes! While his Lancs colleagues enjoyed a post game beer in the dressing room. Top marks to Joss and boo boo to the Daily Mail!

It could have happened in any town in the country. I've witnessed it in the North East, the Midlands and the South. Small town arschlöcher with unsatisfactory lives, looking for any excuse to unload their discontent on some innocent bystander. It's certainly true that my home county appears to have more than its fair share of such wastes of sperm and eggs but it's by no means a problem exclusive to The Garden.

Thanks longhops and invicta1977 for further and better information on this...that was the point behind my disclaimer. As it happens I was born in Kent myself and had ties there until comparatively recently, and Ashford is far from being the market town of my boyhood. A lot of that dissatisfaction is associated with the huge amounts of urban sprawl where successful local councils have allowed developers to park high-density housing out in the middle of nowhere and then thrown up their hands in horror at the "surprising" lack of community cohesion. As such its a story of our times, and not just of Kent and I'm certainly not pointing the finger.
