Only 22, he had his whole life in front of him and oozed with talent. Shocking.

Tragic news as we start 2016. Was really impressed by this young man. A young talent, quick and keen to learn. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends and also to all at Sussex County Cricket club, you have lost a brilliant talent.

Extremely upsetting to learn about the passing of Matthew Hobden, who was (by all accounts) not just a great cricketer, but a friendly, caring person as well.

Absolutely stunned. I have watched this lad through the Sussex youth system, a lovely bloke and a very talented cricketer with huge potential. Heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends. RIP Hobsy.

This is so sad. He was by everyone's account a lovely young man. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and all who grieve at the County Ground.

The mystery surrounding Matthew Hobden's death deepens. 'The Guardian' takes up the story. The sudden death of a 22-year-old country cricket star in a small Scottish town hundreds of miles from his Sussex home is being investigated by local police.
Matthew Hobden, a Sussex fast bowler and England prospect, died in the Forres area on the northern Scottish coast on Saturday, Police Scotland said.
“The death of the male, who is believed to be from the Sussex area, is currently being treated as unexplained,” a statement from the force said. “Enquiries are at a very early stage but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal as is usual procedure.www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jan/03/scottish-police-investigate-death-sussex-cricketer-matthew-hobden
