Congratulations to the borderman today on reaching the age of....reason? maturity?... whatever it is, he has been doing it for 60 years and I wish him well and look forward to many more years of questioning, controversy and enternainment.

Happy birthday Borderman. You're the same age I will be when I'm your age - which thankfully is a long long time away. Enjoy.

Thanks. Had a lovely day with a marquee party in the garden and all the children and grandchildren present. Then three generations watched Brazil in the world cup.
Disappointing to check the cricket scores after the football and to find that neither of the two border counties had lived up to the occasion.
Not a good time to follow cricket from the border - Sussex two wins in eight T20 games and Kent just one win in their last eight. Some small consolation in the success of a player whose spirit I admire greatly and have been championing since before his f/c debut, as the excellent Matt Coles showed Kent the folly of their ill-treatment, with more runs and at a higher scoring rate than any Kent batsman and better bowling figures than any of the Kent trundlers.
The other problem is the family are still here and I'm getting rather worried they're not going to go in time for me to get to the cricket at Hove tomorrow!
