You would hope so, given that he was only sacked because of the misguided idea that the now departed Cachopa could fill the role of reserve keeper. Kent don't need three keepers and he was only there pro-tem while Billings was with England and Rouse was injured. What they do need for a promotion push is a quality seam bowler. There are ten of them on that list and the only one with any real quaility is Coles. The other nine consist of 70 mph Stevens and eight journeymen. I'm sure they will try to sign an overseas like Rabada and Viljoen last season, because if they can find some firepower in the bowling, 2017 represents their best chance of promotion in the last seven lean years they have spent in Div Two.

Didn't Mark Davis already say, we won't be signing a back up keeper?

Didn't Mark Davis already say, we won't be signing a back up keeper? And when Brown gets injured? Then what? You don't see a professional football team going into a match without a reserve keeper on the substitutes bench?

Yes, I'm not sure how things have come to this, when we cannot afford a reserve wicket keeper, and a championship overseas. Even cash strapped Northants can manage that. Let's wait and see who the new signings are, you never know, one might be a capable keeper
