Fantastic news about Tom. Pleasing to see Nick Oxley also progressing well. William Sheffield and Henry Crocombe have also impressed at age group level.

I think Garton and Haines stand out as potential future Sussex captains. It's a real shame he won't be playing on Sunday because of Covid 19. Of the eight players missing he is the biggest loss.

Well spotted with the original Haines thread. I looked high and low including a Forum search, but didn't find it. But, given the two posts were back in October 2017, no surprise.
Perhaps, the Mod can pass over the posts from this new thread to the old one?

Astonishing!
Just discovered there is a thread for Tom Haines but nobody's posted on it for four years. Which is harsh, frankly.

Tom has been one of the few highlights of the season. A breakthrough year for him going beyond 1000 runs, being the highest run scorer in the championship and captaining the side.
I was pleased to see he’d received his county cap today.
Well played Tom.

Surprised he didn't make the Lions squad announced today

Surprised he didn't make the Lions squad announced today If you want to be selected for the Lions you have to play for Durham, Lancashire, Surrey, Warwickshire or Yorkshire who have 11 of the 14 players. Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Somerset have also staged international matches. It's no longer about performance and solely about which county you play for. Perhaps posting the national selectors a map of Sussex would help them find their ways out of the capital.

Probably something in that CP but I reckon it's simply that we're so pants right now. Better go well next season, Haines and Sussex.

More likely to be that it’s his first breakthrough year (albeit a brilliant one) he will have more of a chance of higher honours if he shows consistency next season.
