Unfortunately, I planned to watch the Loughborough game on Monday, but it's good to hear that Ollie Robinson has picked up wickets - an impressive 7 for 23. Apparently, we have enforced the follow on, although I would have liked to see some of our batsmen to get some time in the middle.

Not sure it tells us much playing these student games, I certainly don’t think they should be1st class.
Robinson is obviously in good rhythm which is good to know but where’s Sharma, van Zyl and Wiese? These are the games they should be playing to get acclimatised. They’ll turn up just before the first game and will need at least 2 games to settle in.

According to the official website, Sharma arrives tomorrow, which means he will presumably be ready to play in the friendly v Surrey next Monday. Van Zyl finished his season with Cape Cobras a week ago, so he is presumably due to arrive soon. As for Wiese, I am not sure. According to Cricinfo, he has not played since playing T20 in Dubai a month ago. It would be good to know if George Garton is going to be fit for the start of the season as he has not appeared so far. I am sure that I read somewhere that he was expected to be fit for the first game, but maybe not.

I follow Wiese on Facebook so just checked and in the last 15 mins he has posted he is on his way to join the squad. He was in the PSL and got to the final which was on the 26th. Looks like he has been given some time back home which is fair enough!

Appreciate good in the middle practice but please have these removed from first class status so averages can have some meaning. Assume Robinson after a couple of games could be top of bowling.

Which would give the matches less ‘status’. How do you judge the worth of a match? What about Dizzy’s 200 v Bangladesh?

I just feel that some of our batsmen have spent a reasonable amount of time at the crease during the South Africa tour and in the pre-season games in England, whereas others could do with a decent innings under their belt.
